WTF is your point? You always have some comment about how cheap it should be to make something and you never consider R&D, marketing, dealer/distributor cost, advertising, etc. You act like everything should be sold for the cost of raw materials. It's supply and demand. RRP knows how to market it and create demand. Good for them. If a back flippable ski for under $10k is too much fo you then keep riding your crap and shut up

What he said ( with less aggression ) .

I'm playing around with a hull idea and doing the math for materials + light R and D + mold making time + mess ups ( who knows if if will ride like crap ) = a huge capitol investment in time and material for a very limited market . I see easily several hundred hours in a design and several thousand dollars to produce a production mold or molds . What about warranty issues ? The cost of a shop capable of producing " true commercial quality goods " , tools , property insurance , liability insurance , pollution controls , waste disposal , income taxes ......... am I leaving any thing out ? There are probably several other hidden costs . Remember it is a hobby to us , but hull makers and motor builders are trying to make a living . Thats what you are paying for . If you don't want to pay for any of that call Dan and he will hook you up . I love capitalism even if I can't afford it. The hull makers and motor builders earn every penny IMO .

I love you guys.

back on topic, I dont usually get too excited about stuff I can only dream of owning but this does give me some ideas.

im thinking on setting back the pump with a spacer sim to what we were talking about in the other thread,im just a little concerned with it sticking out the back that far,I will break it in the surf, that pump is sticking way out there on that hull,I guess its not that big a deal for a flatwater boat

That Rickter isn't the first surf ski to have the nozzle stock way out, though. I'd be concerned about it for the same reasons as you, but I've seen it a fewf times in surf.

cant wait to ride one in surf, the one with a totally stock setup was just awesome feeling. tiny but still amazingly stable and buoyant.

price confirmed it was a typo the retail for the xfs is $6500
the drive shaft is a 2007 version and it is similar to fs2 with a set back 3" setup but then the hull is cut to about wear ring area on the pump and the tray covers most of the pump from the top but this is for flatwater and hitting the nozzle should not me to much issue except jumping in shallow water not really recommended obviously .

Thanks Brian.
A general Rickter question: is there some sort of warranty on these hulls?

I wish there were shops, on the east coast for me, that have aftermarket hulls to try (BOB, EME, Rickter, Rok,etc). Even if they all had stock 701's in them. It is nice to know people with aftermarket hulls but they are setup to everyone's personal preference. If the motor is the same in all of them it would at least give you a baseline to go off of.

Can't believe that thing was able to pull those tricks with a stock 701. A stock 701 is awful! lol That is one amazing little machine right there. 6500 is steep for a hull, but when you consider you can throw in a limited set up that runs on pump gas and do tricks most couldn't do with a XS1000, suddenly, this ski is cheap in comparison to a lot of other options in this sport. At least for flatwater.

Props to rick and crew.

But just think about how that hull would feel with a XS1000 pro package if it rides that way with a 701!!!

Im just surprised that hulls are still selling for that much knowing what it takes to build one. R&D has already been done, advertising is free between here and youtube. No part of making a hull is beyond the abillities of an indevidual with a small garage. I would chop an existing hull if all I wanted is a backflip.
