Okay, so since the summer of 09, when I finally bought my two skis...I have blown my ear drum and F-d up my knee so bad I had to have surgery, been on my ass for a month and wont be back on the water for probably every bit of three months.
For you guys that have been riding consistently for ten+ years....how often have you had any injuries that have taken out of the game for at least week? Any major injuries that took a lot of rehab for you to get back in the game?
Really, Im just looking for some motivation from you guys that have been around a while. I love this sport and the fiance is more and more against my riding with each injury. All and all there aint a chance in hell I will ever give it up. I would just like to know some of you seasoned guy's experiences.
Late 30’s would be good! I’m 46 and I learned to back flip when I was 45! I have been riding since the mid eighties though. As far as few young recruits on stand ups I think it has more to do with economics. The younger crowd would rather be on a stand up but they have no financial means to get one- Jet skiing is an expensive sport. There parents on the other hand tend to buy couch’s so the majority of the younger crowd just end up riding there parents couch. No worries here though, I like the “undergroundness” of our side of the sport. Coming from a heavy surfing back ground can you imagine if Skis were as popular as surfing? The sport (and mainly the very few riding areas we have) would be over run and ruined.
Im 18, have alot of ridiculous stuff yet to pull. but I have felt my days snowmobiling this year more than ever, glad there is a few months of healing between sleds and skis for me. I have got about 4, 13 year olds into the sport around here. Getting their dads all excited and on board is key, then give them everything I can to help them jump right into it. I just gave my SN hull to a kid and am building it up for him so he can ride this year.
