Riders getting old?

we ride every weekend on Lake Orienta. Our group of young and old gets bigger every week. Hope to meet you sometime!

Thank you, and it sounds like fun. If you ever wish to venture this way for a change of scenery, a handful of us get out throughout the week and weekends too. Two to three years ago, I use to stare at your lake almost daily wishing I could put my ski on it, so it’s a bit of a coincidence you mention it now. I will pm you when I can make it that way, and my regular ride partner will probably accompany me (very laid back individual, except for when riding…been riding 15+ years).

Okay, so since the summer of 09, when I finally bought my two skis...I have blown my ear drum and F-d up my knee so bad I had to have surgery, been on my ass for a month and wont be back on the water for probably every bit of three months.

For you guys that have been riding consistently for ten+ years....how often have you had any injuries that have taken out of the game for at least week? Any major injuries that took a lot of rehab for you to get back in the game?

Really, Im just looking for some motivation from you guys that have been around a while. I love this sport and the fiance is more and more against my riding with each injury. All and all there aint a chance in hell I will ever give it up. I would just like to know some of you seasoned guy's experiences.

Chin up man!

Two hernia surgeries, two carpel tunnel surgeries,Left knee acl detached, and another hand surgery on my thumb this past winter. That was 3 months of barely being able to wipe my butt! Acl was 5 months a few years ago.

IDK l guess list it as experience, suck it up and go work on your ski! And l'm 53.l hate tearing myself up,but find yourself some other interests right now and most important do rehab like a madman.Your body will thank you later.

47 , I think this sport is the most level playing ground as far as age thing, it's so point shoot project bam. It's mind over physical strength, just pull the right index finger stand up and have fun. Surf riding could go on and on for years .

Dan You need to write a book or something post #59 was beautiful .

44 and no injuries from skiiing since getting back into it about 3 years ago... in my youth I had a few pole to face related injuries but nothing serious. I certainly dont try the same stuff I did when I was 25.

Riding is my workout, stress reliever, hobby, passion. We have a good group of riders that make it fun too, but I would/do ride by myself at times.

I'm 37 and have been riding skis for 18 yrs, standups for almost 9. No major injuries to date although I have broken my wallet several times.

Sent from my Droid so spelling mistakes courtesy of Android keyboard.

I got into this sport while i was going thow some tuff times divorce, lower back surgery, also found a shattered bone in my neck. these were basicly befor skis. I would blame it on working to hard and wake boarding. Since sking..
i have had left knee scoped , broke my left knee cap broke in daytona, hell broke my nose 4 weeks ago.
When i was layed up i would put my ski on the ground at home and tought myself how to do hood tricks. Yea my friends make fun of me but now it reminds me how hard i worked to get me to where i an now.. Age now 42 and in better shape then i have been in in 15+ years

Im 18, have alot of ridiculous stuff yet to pull. but I have felt my days snowmobiling this year more than ever, glad there is a few months of healing between sleds and skis for me. I have got about 4, 13 year olds into the sport around here. Getting their dads all excited and on board is key, then give them everything I can to help them jump right into it. I just gave my SN hull to a kid and am building it up for him so he can ride this year.

Late 30’s would be good! I’m 46 and I learned to back flip when I was 45! I have been riding since the mid eighties though. As far as few young recruits on stand ups I think it has more to do with economics. The younger crowd would rather be on a stand up but they have no financial means to get one- Jet skiing is an expensive sport. There parents on the other hand tend to buy couch’s so the majority of the younger crowd just end up riding there parents couch. No worries here though, I like the “undergroundness” of our side of the sport. Coming from a heavy surfing back ground can you imagine if Skis were as popular as surfing? The sport (and mainly the very few riding areas we have) would be over run and ruined.

227 Agreed...

Tanner always great view and attitude. WE are the messengers, riding respectfully taking care of our spots and showing the Average Joe what can be done with a little bit of commitment. Late thirties and always goin bigger today than yesterday in ALL areas of my life.
