Decided to make my own a little over 1" forward pole mount to help make the nose come around quicker on back flips and give more control the everything else. It still 1" lower also like most other good pole mounts out there. Went with the Billet RRP pole here but decided against the double bolt idea. They came loose to easy. Stuck with a single stock bolt for this build again.

Got the DASA 850 PV all cleaned and put together and pressure tested.

Cases were trenched, epoxied, and ported by DASA on a CNC. Very nice work.

Its a little more difficult to build than a stocker if you naver have before, but considering I had built over 400 4 strokes in my life I figured I'd give it a shot.

Cleaned up the new factory pipe and smothed out the rough spots from the machining. Decided to go with a MOD pipe again, ill never go back to a limited again. tried that twice and neither time did it work out for me. But i did manage to waste a lot of my time and money trying to see if it made more power, it didn't IMO.

Finished up the turfing, installed the footholds, adjusted them, and installed the front foothold with Styrofoam behind it for extra floatation and strength

Drew stopped by to help me set the new motor in. I think his reaction is worth a 1000 words here

Now comes the fun part, I had to swap out the motor mounts, couplers etc as I broke all of them on my primary boat that day, so this baby gets all new cold Fusion goodies to go with her CF stator cover

Installed the Rule 500 bolge and wiring to the dash switch, I use that plastic with corrugated cover on everything now since i wore through some wires one time. I use that stuff any place there is a sharp edge. always on the pole and steering areas also.
As you can see I went with an entire new electric box etc with an ETP Epic with the A and B switch so I can compare my timing to the MSD enhance curve that I programmed into curve A. should be interesting to see the difference between the two.

Even bought new gas tank and battery straps. I did not want any left overs on this build.

Thought the Factory pipe would clear so I never test fit it to the motor. Little did I know I would spend HOURS grinding this spot and taking the manifold on and off numerous times to clearance it.

It looked like it was only hitting by about 2 or 3 thou every time. 11 times later I just grabbed the big grinder and hogged away at the exhaust.

Installed the Full Spec 46mm carbs jetted to 130 Pilot and 130 Mains 2.5 N/S with 22 psi pop off. We all think it will be rich on the pilots but I was too lazy to listen to Pat. Pat suggested 120 pilots. We will se when we fire her up.

Decided to go tith old school stock flame arrestors. Tehy would not clear the motor so i lasered up some 1/4" aluminum for a spacer plate to rise them up. Probably would use 3/8" plate next time, but i was worried about hittin gthe hood when I made them. Now with the XFT hood there would have been plenty of clearance.

Shes all installed and shimmed in perfectly resting quietly in her new home. Can't wait to beat on it the first time out!!

Installed my left over battery box I made years ago. This was the super light weight version. I still prefer the ones where i didnt X cut the sides just the bottom, but this was all I had left and its the same one a lot of us have been running for years.

Installed a regular external fill for now.

I got lazy on the pictures at the end as I just wanted to install the steering and go.

I installed RRP steering and chin pad, 50 mm riser bars, 2" bar extensions, ODI extreme grips, riva throttle and the thrust trim handle that I had to bend to get the last ten degrees out of the trim.

Now I really need to cut the back of the boat to let the trim clear the hull.

There are a couple small thing I would change on a next build similar to this, but I will say so far I think its going to be a killer ride.

Still need to fit the nose piece to clear the pole being so far forward, but thats cosmetics as far as im concerned. That can heppen with the paint job or vinyl wrap over the winter.

I get more finished picts but I just want to go ride!

Ride report on the way.

Thanks guys.
It should be in VA and hopefully Daytona this year, so Zack your welcome to test it out. :aargh4:

Just swapped out the Pilots three times. The 120's seem to be a good choice at this point. You were right as usual Pat.

Im now having some cooling issues and melting the hood tubes and sizzling the water box, burned my finger on it, so need to find out what the issue is there with the cooling. Motor is fine but exh is hot! Have FP open 3 turns on top and no restrictor in stinger, no flow control valve etc. Time to talk to Dan at DASA on the cooling routing set up I was given. I think its incorrect.

just a thought on your cooling issue.. you mentioned that you cleaned up the head pipe a bit. Did you remove the the screws and blow air through the water jacket to make sure those tiny pin holes weren't clogged with bits of aluminum?

I was just trying to help. You always ask me for riding tips and always try to take them. But when it come to the boat it self.....I know you have to do it your way!! HAHAHAHAHa

What size jet do you have in the pilot............( ha I had to)!

Cooling issue is solved. I had one line going to exh from head and Dan from Dasa said go to the two rear ones T-together and run to exh so three overboard. He also mentioned to restrict the two front ones to 4mm. I was told before to just run all three right overboard and not to restrict anything. Well, live and learn I guess.

She is cool now. Its time to start restricting it to build some power now that its cooler. Engine temps on the pissers are up to a decent level now also.

The A Curve on the Epic is decent but there is a noticable change using the B curve I made. Carbs even seem to run better with this setting.

Now I have some water intrusion and bogging issues to deal with. Time to get out the duct tape and start sealing off areas to see where the water is coming from.

Time for some Roll and Back flip attempts

Yeah looks like a superman build right now, lol after paint or vinyl over the winter it will look a lot better. Thinking of talking to Zeon's automotove for a pimped out paint job, old skool style. I ordered the billet pole to go with the Rickter XFR I was thinking of getting. Changed my mind and decided to build this to test all the components first.

Did a bunch of back flops off a boat wake. Broke the limitig rope, and bilge switch off. Time to make some adjustments. Anyone know with trim if I dont cut the rear rail does that limit my trim on a BF?? It felt like the trim didnt help much at all on the attempts.

The ski handles totally different from any ski I have ridden, feels nose light and very loose in the tail. Frosty thought the same. Drew got pitched on a high speed chine walk, Ive been close a few times myself. The tubbies definitely dont like speed!

This ski is going to take a bit to get used to. Rolls take more speed into them on FW to complete, although I feel I'm getting more amplitude with this ski and motor combo. I have about 10 gals through it so far.

Tonight I restricted the water to the pipe. FP bottom closed, mid closed, top 5/8. Added a Jetworks flow control and 3.5 psi cracking pressure, and a 2.5mm restriction after that. Nice and dry, hopefully it stays cool in the water box this time.
We will hopefully adjust from there on the water tomorrow or Sat. Problem is now big surf all weekend so not a good time to tune a new ski. I may have to do some creative thinking or revert to the other ski for a bit.

I just want to get this tuned before WaveDaze!!

scupper.jpg

Made up a internal scupper ball drain for the tray, I know after last time there is no way to seal a ski up perfectly, especially when you drill into the sides for foothold bolts for the adjustable rickter holds. Hopefully ill get that installed before tonights ride.

I also wanted to comment on the Mag install, but I need more ride time. It does hook up differently than a stock pump, if you are sliding out and hit the gas it grabs faster in differents spots. So far usually at the apex of the turn better, still hoping to get some surf time on it tonight.

Any comments on my trim question above? Should I cut the rear?

Im still having issues on figuring out how to upload stuff to this site after all these years but here is a picture of my current curves.

There is a huge difference between a MSD Enhancer curve and my homemade curve shown here. Id say a good 5-10% difference in the midrange to top end. Carbs clean up better after a stab or roll, ski feels cleaner everywhere in the powerband. All the guys in Team Extreme will want to try both curves for themselves to feel the difference.
