i am running out of steam... fast.
last night was the battery box creation. took a few blocks of wood, cut them to be the same size i wanted the battery box to be and nailed together. then wrapped it all in duct tape, followed by tin foil (now I wish i had used something else... this tin foil is a bitch to scrap off). used 3 lays of 12oz-ish and 1 layer of 20oz-ish carbon. used west systems epoxy w/slow hardener. once done, i put in the oven for about 2 hours on "warm". took it out and was good to go. trimmed the top and sanded the edges, then scuffed the hull and box for epoxy/glue. same thing i did for the pump shoe, used 404 filler w/epoxy and a bit of coloring. ya, it looks a bit sloppy in there, but this thing isn't budging! i was able to pick up the weight of the hull by it this morning before work. pay no attention to the rusty washer in the pic below lol. only used for mock up. the stock bolts are to long for the motor mounts when being using with Superjet style mounts.
the waterbox sits in the stock battery location. when i had everything mocked up, the waterbox stay in placed without a strap. but it took 5 minutes to install an insert right above the box so why not? little peace of mind. a strap will run from one of the gas tank mounts to the side mount i just did.
tonight - finish assembly and hopefully at least fire it up! (even if it is 1am, screw the neighbors).
