I actually mount mine to the wall and then run the wires into the soffit.

I drill a hole in the soffit the same size as the wire and then use an exacto blade to slit the hole out to the edge so I can slide the wire in. Once the cable is inserted, the slit is nearly invisible. If you ever remove the camera, the hole is small enough to fill in with white silicone.

Our neighborhood is still under construction so there are several dumpsters full of building supplies to draw from. I have collected up and stored enough spare soffit to replace all the panels I have cut, rather than seal them up with silicone. I did this because the soffits at our last house were an odd color that I couldn't match.

That's a great deal at 30% off and yes, that's the perfect starter kit.

The best price I've seen on the 8CH NVR is $229 so that deal gets you the NVR plus 4 5MP cameras for just $30 each.

All of the wireless versions that I have played with will record over the network or to the SD card. They are just a pain to join to the network the first time but are good after that.

Note: Wireless cams like the Argus or Keens will be the exceptions. The battery powered units won't talk to anything other than the mobile app and are limited to short clips only.

You the man Boyer! not sure what was changed on my end.. But, I clicked default and the camera went down for about 2 mins. Came back online and the night mode was all back to normal. Its been 4 days and hasn't skipped a beat. Thank you sir!

As of last night all of my neighbors have had there cars broken into.. Figure I should get a camera now. Any recommendations on a single camera with a wide angle that has excellent night vision and text alerts.

My first kit showed up last night with theb4mp camera kit. I traded this kit to a friend for him repairing the door on my wifes audi where I got sideswiped last month. My 5mp kit gets here tomorrow, but my extra 5mp cameras came with the first set so I set about getting them installed today. I was going to install junction boxes under the soffit to screw to, but i think I have found a way to mount them to the joists and not have to worry about the soffit sagging. Reolink also was really good about matching amazons price against what I paid Friday, and refunded me the difference. Lastly, the site says that all this stuff ships from California, but mine were shipped by Amazons lexington ky warehouse.

I started to ask if they could match the 5mp price from Amazon. Just double ordered and had them cancel the order direct. one from Amazon shows up today.
