Selling hulls with a HIN or selling HIN tags without a hull---legal???

can we continue this discussion on how to title a ski that came with no title, you know, as long as we keep it at discussion level?

my old method doesn't work anymore.

I recently purchased a 08 hull with the HIN metal plate still inside the ski but don't have the paper title because it was used for an A/M hull overseas. How would I go about getting a title for this hull? :scratchchin:

if it went overseas then I would go the title-less state route with the original hin number.

Just the recipts for the materials purchased to build it. All I had to show them was my invoice for the XFT top deck. You have to pay tax on the price of the materials. It was amazingly easy to do!

Did they only request a receipt for major items like the motor and hull?

What about moving the HIN to put a scupper in? Taking it off to paint, then putting it back on?

I did that on my RN and move it up on the r/h back side and rivited it where they are on the square nose/FX-1.

haha no receipt..i passed that one on to my buddy who needed a ski..i got one..same deal for 1300..no title..wasnt stolen so i could really care less..now its a 90

I'd pass. Too much risk involved. Receiving stolen property, etc. Ya just never know who you're dealing with. I know a prick here in MI that turned a guy into the cops after he sold the guy two stolen skis.

That just sounds to ridiculous... Why would he turn him in after he just sold them to him. Did he steal them also? lol

Yeah, stupid.
And frankly, the second hidden HIN placement on the FX-1 isn't great either.

(but not near as dumb as the "under the battery box" that a certain jet ski manufacturer used in the past on stand ups)

Anything I could present. They really don't care about the motor as much as the hull. You can just bring in receipts for fiberglass stuff.

So if I bought a 550 or fx hull with no title and built a ski from it could I register it? I plan on doing something like that soon but wanna do it legal. Also I think if we ALL started calling for permission on repainting and scupper installs they may het tired of it sooner or later
