How does it ride flatwater freestyle wise? Can you roll or flip it? Can you still carve?

His boat runs good. I steal it a lot from him. I never tried to roll or flip it being I can't afford to fix it but with that being said I know I could roll it easy. It flat spins with ease. By no means am I a flatwater guy either

On the down side when it's not in the surf it carves OK.

If someone with flatwater skill rode it, I am sure they could roll and flip it. Obviously with the wide bond line the trade off for extra stability is a flatter ride feeling. Still carves pretty good and for my riding I have no complaints about the handling at all. Its the first pole ski I actually enjoyed riding coming off fixed steer.

That's what I was wondering. Im riding one of the gen 2 x2's so obviously im a fixed steer guy but I really want to be able to roll or flip. The complaints I have with the pole skis is the real narrow trays. Sounds like this ski is good with that

I agree, i would love to throw a tight pole on my sn and see how i like it. I love the wide tray mod thanks for the idea!

Update:

Per ZB's recommendation at the freeride last Jan. I installed the MEDIUM FS2 rideplate today. Had the short one on prior. Made a very noticeable difference in the slight nose high ride the ski had prior. Further surf testing the rest of the week.

2014 Update:

Been riding a ton this year. Spent 2.5 weeks in FL so far in 2014, riding surf everyday. Cought the hurricane swell 2weeks ago.

After about 500+ high speed beachings the bottomdeck was showing some bigtime signs of wear! Fiberglass hulls just donot hold up like good old SMC....lol You can see where it wore down to the carbon stringers. I did not notice until I was prepping the ski to ride Friday. This killed my weekend ride plans.

So fast forward to today. Breese08SJ and I performed some minor surgery. We sanded down the entire center "chine" of the hull. Luckily there were no other cracks or damage beside the small delam'd piece of glass you can see under the stringer, and a few gouges. Once that was sanded and prep'd, we mixed up an epoxy filler for the gouges, with chopped glass fibers and silica thickener. Then we layed down 3 layers of VERY VERY heavy S-Glass....pulled vacuum on it and now its curing away. Hopefully be back on the water later this week.

Years ago I tried just that on an X2 bottomdeck repair. Lesson learned that Kevlar wicks water something fierce as soon as the cloth is exposed. Add in freezing northeast winter and it delaminated by spring. The additional glass we layed down just about doubled the thickness of the hull on the center chine. In theory, I should be good for few many more years of beachings.

Ah makes sense. Dyneema might be better suited then since it's much less prone to that (so I read) but yeah I'm sure the glass will be good for a long time.

Nice repair! I really need to do this to my Fs2. I also see your hood fits snug up front where mine is gapped like a oem superjet. If i re-drill and move my hood hook's im guessing it will change that? I didn't buy mine new so are the hooks equipped on these hulls from RRP or put on by a buyer?
