Custom/Hybrid ski security-what do you do?

Like I said earlier, enclosed trailer. Out of sight, out of mind. There is only theft deterrents because if someone wants it bad, they will get it.

I have thought of every possible theft deterrent for my Ducati and the only thing worthwhile is full coverage insurance. Even lojack doesn't really help because I dont think you can look up GPS coordinates yourself. They don't want someone being hero, they rather have police take care of it and 90% of the time the police don't give a :):):):).

That second one posted looks like it could be a lot smaller.

You guys are scaring me. I think I will keep my ski at home in my garage under lock and key and never ride it again.

I left my house today at 9 am . Just got home wife left garage open all day , motor on stand and ski sitting there I got so lucky , came around the corner and seen garage open my heart dropped

This will solve that problem. You can open or close your garage door from anywhere with your phone or tablet and you can set preferences in the app to send an alert to your cell phone every time your garage door is opened or closed.

Given the recent theft and history of skis being stolen the past few years, I am wondering who does what to secure their ski while at a hotel?

I use a logging chain padlocked to truck bed anchors and my tow hook/bow eye and I have even ran it up and around my driveshaft for extra warm and fuzzies. I know it could be cut but it would take multiple cuts and be a huge, time consuming project.

Who can top it without an enclosed trailer?

I really want to hear because I want my ski as secure as possible.

I cut the locks off all the other skis near mine. That way, if someone comes to steal something, other skis will look like easy bait.

I didn't get to watch the video yet but I read it . I'm kind of interested thanks for sharing . Not s bad safety net for 30 dollars

only turn off is it is a crowd network, meaning that other people that have purchased these become the scanners. If it catches on and millions of people buy it than maybe they can spend the money on better tech.

Glad you saw that. It's a downside but still could be worthwhile. Chances are it's going to be someone local that steals it anyways. Even if all your ride buddies get one, it would definitely increase your chances of finding your ski..

ah man that sucks. I was to eager to post, seemed pretty cool
Yeah, there's been a couple around the price range and they all had crap reviews.
I wouldn't be against spending 100-200$ on a good tracker but I can't find anything..

Have you looked into Tagg. I had one for a while. The wifi tracking was a little slow for a dog but that's how they get the battery life. Battery lasts quite a while if the ski is in your garage.

Edit: I had it for a dog, not a ski. Put it in a drypak. She wore it into the ocean once and the contacts turned green, although continued to work.

I think it is actually perfect for the dog. You can get used to speed but can't really say that about comfort of watching battery dies in a seconds lol. I can see some parallels with facebook spy app which works the same way to be honest.
