Super Jet SN build, Rocker, Chopped rear, this website made me do it!

IMG_3097.JPG Got a few goodies on the way, all electronics, stator, starter, bendix, new carb rebuild kit, throttle cable... that's all for now I think. The last few weeks I have been plugging away at getting this nose bond rail/ splash guard blended in with the existing one and it's getting there. I swear I'm 30 hrs into just the splash guard.

IMG_3142.JPG Tonight I did not feel like working on the ski but that's not much of an option if I want to ride it. Good riding is only about 2 months away and I got a lot to do. Kinda getting sick of working on the nose and also wanted a quick easy job for the night so I rolled it over on its side, sanded out the bond line and layed in some slightly thickened epoxy down the seam. Once it cures I will run a 4" and 6" strip of glass down to cover it.

You should lay your glass at the same time as the thickened epoxy when reinforcing. Gives both a mechanical and a chemical bond. Plus it saves time.

Now I'm deciding if I want to put a few layers of glass down around the whole inside of the engine bay or not. With reading about guys learning barrel rolls and pancaking the ski and having hull issues I think I should for the few extra ozs of weight it will add. Also stood the ski up and beefed up the bottom deck and caps a bit from the inside. Once that dries I can do the same from the outside and add in my hull drain and through hull exhaust. Also went online and ordered a few goodies. Yes a few parts I ordered are cheapo parts I don't care at this point I just need a complete ski, as soon as it's on the water I'll upgrade parts. Also got my ebox and stator in from a local guy I traded parts with!

IMG_3188.JPG IMG_3189.JPG IMG_3195.JPG Well it's been a few days now that I have missed working on the ski. The last time I was down working on it I spend a few hours sanding the rear end prepping up for glass on the back before I drill the rear hole for the exhaust and scupper. Have yet to go down and lay glass on it. Today the wife was out with the kid so I had a chance to run to work and prep up part of my through hull exhaust. The piping will all be tig welded mandral bent stainless. Here is a few photos.

IMG_3217.JPG IMG_3216.JPG Just about to work on the ski tonight and wanted to check length and weight cause it's been a while and I'm pretty happy with it. Length is 76.75" and weight is 73.6lbs. I would guess with all the glass when I'm done, exhaust through the hull, scupper, footholds and turf I should be under 100lbs still. This thing was just over 120lbs when I started to chop it up.

Just finished up for tonight I got some glass layed up in the rear end, hopefully thick enough. If it is I can finally install my trim line, scupper, and exhaust then seal it up and build the tray.

After a few sanding and glassing sessions on the rear bottom deck caps I'm feeling pretty pumped! Just put down the last glass and tomorrow I can drill holes for my pipe and scupper and maybe be the end of the weekend even have some shape starting in the tray!!!!! Pics to come soon.

Just went and put a few more layer down on the rear it was not quite as thick as I wanted it but should be good now. Might still be able to start to fit the exhaust this weekend.IMG_3250.JPG
