For anybody that might be wondering, the stock 08+ Superjet big hub impeller is a beautiful match with this pump. No spacers needed. Im running just a Factory B-pipe. Perfect surf and flatwater pump! Dont feel any weight difference at all. My only pump mod and will probably be my last.

Update: got another 2 pumps from Jetmaniac just now - the step which was present around the cone is now perfectly machined so no need to grind anything! I propose that the 90 deg fittings be taken out for shipping as 1 came broken.

Update on solas pumps:

As mentioned above, different impellers will require different amounts of spacing to install properly. We have been using oem prop spacers (2mm) for some and custom ordered 3mm spacers for others.

The biggest installation issue that has been found so far:
http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/110333-I-give-up-Solas-pump-help-PLEASE

The issue is with the spacing of the bearing hub relative to the pump body. The solas pump has the center hub a little forward (about 5mm as measured by carl at cold fusion) as compared to the oem pump stator.

This makes the same oem driveshaft effectively longer when mounted in the solas pump. It doesnt seem to be an issue in oem hulls since the spline underlap is large enough to accomodate the difference, but many/most a/m hulls seem to be designed to increase spline overlap as compared to oem hulls so many guys have had issues installing in solas pumps in a/m hulls.

You can often fix the issue with a combination of moving midshaft housing forward with a Cold Fusion spacer, removing thrust washer behind coupler, and moving midshaft farther forward relative the housing. We are also building custom length shorter driveshafts for solas pumps to fix this issue altogether.

In spite of this issue, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive on the quality and performance of these cost effective pumps.

We have built alot more full solas pump builds with hooker impellers recently and have found that the shimming required behind the hooker impeller is not always the same to get impeller in the same location.

"Well worth the money" after my purchase of the Solas pump! So much difference withless cost.

I had the spacing problem with my freak. And Chris worked with me till the problem was corrected! As always,Jetmaniac will make sure you are satisfied with your purchase.

Question. My freak is set up mostly for flat water riding. My question is if l bring it to the beach to ride surf, should l put another spacing washer in it to keep from biting so hard off the bottom?

Solas MAG on BOB GEN 3 Hooker 11/17 cutback 7mm X-metal trim

Shortend Driveshaft from jet maniac
Spacers for impeller OEM + MC Master carr spacers ( list from #.0 ).
Ring for Endnozzle <> MAG Section thus it will not properly align, also from Jet maniac
X-metal trim system ( red cable holder ) home made spacer for long pump screw , the rim of the MAG section is thinner than oem

Improvements , better general hook up, noticable better recovery from any tricks, overall noticable more stability when riding and in turns...

MY 0.2 get your mag and components form Jet maniac and get MAG'd .....ts well worth the investment

Noob question. Would this pump work (well) for a wide range of motors? i.e. 701-900? Bigger? What are its limitations when the motor output increases? Thanks in advance!

Yes, they have been run successfully on relatively tame limited 701ish motors to 1000cc setups. However, at the higher cc levels and with more mods like TL, race gas, etc., you will be much better off with a 148-155mm mag pump setup.

I have noticed that the Skat 144 SB absolutely outperforms the solas in back to back testing on FW with 180 hop flips; unless it's the impeller difference or added weigh of solas. Should the Skat SB outperform the solas on FW significantly ?
