let's not knock them down saying there work doesn't constitute as being "worthy" of being in the build off.
.Thats my point exactly. I did a build last year and the first time it hit the water was at the lanier ride. It had custom carbon parts I had made myself and alot of work and time went into it. There were alot of other skis just like me. Knowing what I do now, I would have entered it. If you built one enter it and let the judging decide whos not worthy.

Anyone that believes I'm knocking their ski should be kicked for thinking that. I'm just saying there is a diff between a build off ski and a ski build up. I dont care one way or another what "rules" come about but this is my opinion away.

I'm all about having a good time and thats all this ride is to me, but this is just my opinion.

Personally, I think a build off boat should be built from the ground up starting with a bucket of resin and some fiberglass mat. Hell, that was my argument in the first build off and I got 2 nd place. On that note, why don't we just keep it fair and have a pro and amateurs class. Pros will be only AM hulls and ridiculous budgets and amateurs will be OEM hulls with a $5000 budgetr. Let people that don't have the "cheese" to display their creativity.

Maybe you can set that rule for 08, but if that's the way it's gonna be played then I'm already DQ'd. I'm starting with a FREE 93 squarenose hull and I'll have about 8k + in it by the time it's done. What's so wrong with limited and unlimited? Forget pro or am because then you get into trying to classify who is actually a pro and who is an am. Do like Nick said way back with Limited being stock cylinder and hull and Unlimited being A/M hull and/or A/M cylinder or engine.

Are you doing one this year. Who all will be in the "pro" class? What is the spread looking like so far? I am all for a Unlimited and Stock Modified class.........my only stipulation is the hull is your build. No EME boats and things of that nature. If you do a aftermarket hull have something on there that is not seen all the time......either add a little touch or take something away to make it cleaner. My whole deal when I built the squarensoe last year was to try something that has not been done before on a square. I even tried to freature footholds by Waterdawgs b/c not many people were familiar with them.

On that same subject, in the first build off the WCF hull got second and Steins boat got 3rd so having an overall winner is probably the way to go. I am game for whatever but that just goes to show that the winner can be a modified OEM hull. Other than Steves boat last year I think DJ's ski turned allot of heads. OEM hulls reworked can beat aftermarket hulls as long as you have that attention to detail.

I also think that everyone planning on doing a boat sign up. Let everyone know who is in the competition, give them an idea of what is comming so they can step up their game if need be and push that envelope.

I don't think rules will officially be established.... Just go big or go home. I was happy to go up against Steve. I didn't expect to win, but I'm glad a couple people took some extra looks at my ski....

I am bringing my SX,I know some have stated their opinions on it but if it was a Superjet build off it should be stated that way, there was a lot of work involved in doing this project and a lot of work left to go.It is different and I have only heard of a couple of them being done before so at the least it will be a learning experience.I view it as a chance to show what you can do and your ability to turn a concept into a actual working piece.I have no delusions of winning any awards but it should be fun.

Well, I'm not sure if I'll will be in the build off or not. It depends on the amount of work I have to do and if I can finish a boat on time. I am the only one that has been in the build off for the last two years in a row ...and it never gets any easier!. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this kind of stress level...will just have to see I guess!

my ski is just about done, just a few more odds and ends. but now i am going away for a week... plus there is still 6 inches or more of ice on the lake i ride at. looks like i am gonna be breaking it in where people have their bubblers going and there is no ice by shore:banghead:

my ski starts and runs:woot: . all i did was hit the primer then hit the start button and she fired right up.(must have been the tom petty marathon thing on the radio) the vid is it starting for the first time. smelling that amsoil sure made me happy. man shes alot louder than last year too, i think its gonna sound pretty throaty after its all cleaned out (and broke in of course) should be getting my graphics from northgraphics shortly. and my boat will be ready! now all that has to happen is the foot of snow on the ground has to melt and the ice needs to go away. man am i getting anxious.
