SXR's tend to be nose heavy (making them great race boats) By setting back the motor, cutting off the rideplate and putting in a much lighter waterbox, it lightens the nose up making it easier to roll and flip. I am going to try KX454's and if it works good, I'll do it too.

I allready cut a big D in my rideplate and the nose came up a little, but not enough. Next, I am putting in a much lighter waterbox (The SXR one is huge and heavy).

If I am still not happy, I will try KX's motor mod.

exactly, all i am doing it relocating the motor (and electrics) farther back into the hull, just so i can get teh front end lighter, not a real big deal but as you can imagine there is some work involved..

Spend X amount of dollars on a jetski + Y amount of dollars making that jetski like another type of jetski....

Or get a superjet for Z amount which is actually less then the original X amount.

haha not an option for me, so i will make my kawi ride like one

How is it not an option? you paid alot more for a SXR then you would a SJ...

Also "kawi>yami (maybe)" Why is it so great if your trying to make it like a Yamaha?

the kawi > than yami thing is just a joke, i cant get a yami because i race MX for a dealership and they are a kawi dealer, they give me awesome deals on everything (including my ski) and if they found out i was riding a yami i am sure they would drop me from their team, so i have no choice. and i am not making it totally like a superjet, it should still handle good

All I have to say is 75lbs hull, d-cut plate, x-metal waterbox, 9 litre kart tank and battery in the build head.............throw in a little trim and the nose will come up and slap you in the face :cool2:  If I had a SXR I would be chopping 3in off the back for freestyle use.

i would love to chop off a few inches.. i got a cut up plate, inline silencer instead of waterbox, got a light battery on the way, and trim alrdeay, but no 75 lb hull:frown:

x2

People always complain about the 200 or so classes in racing, and here we go trying to put more classes than skis into this buildoff.

Keep it simple....Amateur and Pro, if you have to.

:haha:

What's with this setback motor?
This sounds like another potentially useless mod I can do cheaply at home! Let's hear it!

So what's wrong with Limited and Unlimited?

Does the winner of limited move up to compete with the unlimited?

why would you be talking down to something you dont even know what it is?? i can do it cheaply at home also because i have the equipment here to do it, it takes some basic welding and measuring not a big deal man, buts why are you trying to talk ******** on someone who is trying to find ways to make a ski perform better? and its basics mechanics about changing the center of mass, have you ridden an sxr?? have you felt how nose heavy they are??? not saying it will make a massive difference but it cant hurt, this year at lanier you guys will have to take my ski for a rip and tell me what you think, i never even got to ride a really modded ski.

Don't worry. I got some sheeeat for entering a Kawi... until they saw it! :woot::woot::woot:

I still really like the way my Kawi rides. I have to get it back up to the level it was at during mid summer for Lanier so some people can ride it... I had some salt water electrical issues at Daytona and I was still tuning it at Lanier last year. No one (outside of Cleveland) has really gotten to ride it in it's prime. All I have left to do is bump the compression back up.

Relax bud.....I think Charlie's got you on your toes purdy good. :cool2:
I apologize if I came across as talking down something of yours. If you're willing to listen, I'll explain myself: I am all for cheap mods I can do myself - after all, I port my own (and family & friends) cylinders and cases, and consider them pretty good by now. So, I know where you're coming from.
That said, I am also constantly trying stuff of questionable value (well, not so much anymore), and since I have never heard of anyone moving an engine back in a SJ (or any other ski), I figured that'd be another "useless mod" I can try.
So, with all these words said, I'll sum it up in one sentence: Relax, and grow some thicker skin.

You will need it, especially since you're trying to freestyle a Kawi. That always seems to be good for a poke around here. Doubly so because you want to enter the buildoff on one.

Good luck with your project - and remember that it's about what you like, not what others like or vote for in a buildoff. Build it for yourself, not a contest.

haha either that or the fact i am looking at my thermometer right now and it is reading -2 degrees F, and there appears to be no end in sight for this cold, i think i am getting edgey i gotta ride again, also it could be i have had 3 hors of homework tonight and i still havent put a dent in it (engineering blows).

no need to apologize, i totally see what your saying now i was just misunderstanding (is that a word??) what you were saying before, thats all. besides i should get made fun of for trying to throw something around thats 351lbs:bigeyes:
