OMG!!! I mean........moving the motor back should compensate for that :ugh2:

I'm just messin with you. We all have cabin fever right now. I work nights and it was -14 outside last night.............and I work outside :frown:

thats not good, i camped out one night in -14 abd it was freakin cold... well my ski is alot lighter than that now(hopefully, hasnt been weighed in yet) but in stock form thats what they claim to weigh...

All I have to say is 75lbs hull, d-cut plate, x-metal waterbox, 9 litre kart tank and battery in the build head.............throw in a little trim and the nose will come up and slap you in the face :cool2:  If I had a SXR I would be chopping 3in off the back for freestyle use.

Sounds nice
Will you get it done this year :sneaky:

50/50 chance :Banane01: :cool2: That squarenose was allot of custom work and I busted by balls getting somewhat together for lanier last year. This year my motor is already done, most of my stuff has been mocked up in a buddies roundnose and Jeff is both building the hull and painting it. Thats what killed me last year..........and my XFT stuff got there a few days before I was scheduled to leave. I must have work on prepping the hull for a month before it went out to paint. I was proud of that boat though, there was not one aspect of the entire ski that was not modified by me in some way :cheer:

someone should bring and set up a scale for the ride.... so everyone could eventually get to weigh in their skis and know what they are.

who ever brings a nice scale could ask 2 bucks for a weigh in and make it worth their while.. and set up a chart on the X about who weighs what
kind of like a dyno meet with your car..

$2 x 100 plus ski's..... = over $200 bucks (i dont own a scale, and i would throw down)

and what have you done to reduce weight?

so far i gutted my stock hood and made my own baffle system, the hood went from 27 lbs (with fire extinguisher) now down to a hair over 15lbs, got one of those super small fire extinguishers saved 3 lbs, UMI pole conversion was told it was lighter then stock kawi but i didnt weigh it, took out all the hull glue anywhere from 3-5 i would say, inline silencer instaed of waterbox saves 7 lbs up front, cut up my stock battery box that was good for a pound plus i have a lightweight battery on the way should be another 5-7lbs. did some excess glass trimming inside the engine compartment not really sure what that was good for, made my own electric box mount becasue is had to be moved back because of the set back motor, it save alittle over a pound. no longer have rail caps (turfed over them) they were heavy but i never got to weigh them cause they are sank. be saving about 2lbs with a lightweight flywheel, things like stock choke system including brackets and cable are gone, stock bilge system is gone, engine bed plate i plasma cut off some extra metal, got off about a pound and a half but it will be getting some welded back onto it. thats about all i think i know there are couple little things i am forgetting. i will see the real results after i weigh it.

but i am also adding alittle weight here and there, things like ECWI add alittle, my 46 mikunis are heavier then stock, put in a primer instead of the choke i have two bilges plus their hose and stuff.

I think hes on a strict diet plan ,only green veggies green gatorade lmao

haha nah i am actually trying to gain weight and get some muscle, this thing may get alittle lighter, but she wont be what you call "light", but actually i have been drinking alot of green gatorade...

I could probably get one. Hrm, I wonder if I could borrow one of our 10,000lb platform scales from here at work?

Honestly, all it would take is 2 cheap bathroom scales with a wooden rack across them.

Here we go, $30 from Bass Pro 0-440lb capacity

I used to race gokarts, and we have a computerized scale system, it has 4 weight plates, tell you where all your weight is, shows you what percentage is in back/front, tells you the total (of course) and a whole buncha other stuff. I'll see if I can borrow it for Lanier (my dad bought it).

You could set it up so it tells you where the CG is and how heavy the back is, how heavy the front is, etc.

Nothing offical has been setup yet.

Also, unless your blaster/square/round is something out of the oridinary, I wouldnt mess with it. If its just a ski with paint and the usual mods, its not that exciting.

Past build off skis for example

Paul Lehrs'- OEM hull with so many custom touches it was insane. Also one of the coolest looking motors ever.

WCF's hulls with tons of nice touches, and his most recent "backflip" version

CG Racings Polaris motor in custom OEM SJ hull

Not saying theres anythign wrong with basic SJs...mine is...but entering one in a build off is blah

if its just bragggin rights that's cool, but what are the rules?how do you enter?

That's just it, there aren't really rules, it's a fun buildoff for bragging rights. Last year there were a total of 6 skis, 3 or 4 of which were actually built for the ride but the other guys went ahead and put there's in just to show off and make the buildoff a little bigger.

Thats the point shouldn't you be trying to get more people to enter the buildoff and not less? It seems to me whenever someone say I want to enter, someone else trys to talk them out of it,I must be missing something here.
