Square 2 XFT Conversion

I went ahead with the inner reinforcements 2 biaxial and 1 CF and installed my bracket to get the right spot for my footholds and installed them. I then cut holes in the tray and filled them with 2lb foam. I have never worked with 2 part foam and you don't want to touch it ot get it on anything before it cures. I ended up using 2 2 part quarts for a total of 4 quarts and it just was enough. Will just have to fit the old cutouts in and glass over them and of to get paint.

I mixed up some epoxy resin and added some 404 to thicken it up similar to what I used on the gunwale gaps inside the hull. Any spots that I may have missed will show up when I put the expanding foam in. I will then use some 3M 5200 to seal them. The footholds were pretty straight and sat in pretty well on the bottom and sides. There is alot of room in these unlike some of the other ones out there. I am really impressed with the quality of this guys (Sergio XFT) stuff.

Whats up Mike, Yes I am. It is going the painter tommorow. The engine should be ready next week. I had a guy name Todd La Chance (TLR Performance.com) build me a new engine. He had a 61X cylinder laying around and wanted to use only my cases and completely redo everything. He has had the crank lightened and balanced and I will go with a single carb, lightened flywheel etc.. He built alot of freestyle motors in the 90's for Wamilton (Rick Roy, Jason Stoyer) and Riva. He is living in Lake City,Fl now and does 4 stroke motocross engines. Sorry I missed you last time you were up here.

who lightned the crank?
Someone Todd knows in S. Florida on the west coast I think. He does alot of motocross engine cranks but does the watercraft cranks also. I will find his name for you. Said he took off around 1 lb. and it balanced up perfectly.

I used West Epoxy resin with 206 hardener and 406 filler and made it real thick so I could apply it by putting it in a freezer bag and cutting the corner, (piping it on) kind of like someone who would decorate a cake. I couldn't find any empty caulking tubes.

I was thinking about this post and how i used to finish and fill in the stick on stone. When i worked as a mason we had a ton of the cake decorator bags that we would fill with mortor and sqeeze in between the joints of the stick-on-stones. They used to just give the bags to us....i wonder where i put them.

Very cool build.:friday:

They do have empty caulking tubes at your favorite marine supply. None of the stores locally had them. I wish I would have had one of those bags your talking about, it would work pretty good. I figured I better not use the wifes Martha Stewart cake decorating kit.

Finally got the hull back from the paint booth. I decided to go with a white for the base color (because the budget won't let me do what I want until after the holidays) and later will do more. Installed the handpole bracket (12 bolts later) and realized the breather tubes must be installed before you mount your waterbox.

Thats going to be a nice ski. Nice job.
I might go up to Hugunot again this weekend. My wife is going to some craft show in Georgia and I'm ready for another ride. I hope to see you there.

I was going to put the motor in on Thursday but will have to wait until Saturday. I may be out on Sunday. Hopefully will water test on Saturday and hull test on Sunday.

Turfed it and installed all of the hardware. Off to TLR Performance to install the engine in the morning. Don't have the money for an RRP handpole just yet so I will use the stocker until then, hopefully it won't break.
