I haven't even thought about that yet. If the impeller is 9/15 or 10/16 then I guess make sure the pump gets a rebuild. I'm not going to spend too much on it just yet. If like to get the ski back together and make sure everything works before I spend money on the pump, since I won't be riding until April.

So I found a rebuilt 701 from a guy who gets his engines done by a guy named nick down here. Nick is hermit most of the time but he knows his skis! I will save this engine and have it built later down the road when I know what direction I want to go in. That's all for tonight. Tomorrow I'll read apart the carbs and look at my pump situation.

Dual carb motor with a head? That's not a stock SN...did it have a stock pipe or AM? You got a smoking deal on that ski!

It had a 650 and I bought a 701 for it and never put it in

Yeah it was worth the drive that's for sure!
I noticed the head is just o-ringed, does it need a gasket as well?

The carbs were rough. Everything is taken apart and I'm soaking them in carb cleaner I'm taking the chokes off and putting primer spots in. I may replace the linkages, I think I have some that were from SBN 38's.

Ok I've gotten a lot done in the scheme of things.
picked up the motor, cleaned up the outside a little, rebuilt the carbs (they live to see another day!) assembled everything back together.
put in the ebox a and connected everything, put in the gas tank, new water-box, and then hooked up the battery and it cranked!
battery was weak so I didn't get to see if it would fire up or not but I put it on the tender, plus I didn't have the exhaust in.
so here is what it looks like.

everything is clean and rebuilt and it makes me feel good to be half way there as far getting the ski back in running condition
here is what it looked like when I got it if anyone wants a comparison.

so tomorrow will hopefully be the big day and then Ill start taking apart the pump area and routing the water.
If this winter weather clears up maybe I can put it in the water on a semi warm day! but I won't get ahead of myself.

I have been seeing a lot of family over winter so I haven't been working on it but I am compiling a list of small things I need to make it compete. I'll post some pump pictures in a minute. Prop has a few dings I forgot what pitch it is so I'll post that too

Ok! so overall the pump is in pretty good shape. the only thing I cant figure out is the pitch of the prop since it is not stamped on there. It is a Skat-Track and looks like an older one but for coming with the ski in ok condition I'm going to see where I am at when I put it in the water. Remember I am not doing anything drastic until I run this thing because I don't want to dump a whole lot into it. the splines on the drive shaft had almost no grease on it so I'll be putting some marine grease on there. heres what it looked like

Give Skat a call and I'm sure they will help you find where the number is. I called them about a prop for my 650sx and they answered right away and got me set up! Here's the info:

Thanks man, I'll call them tomorrow. I need to get the prop off but I don't have a Yamaha prop tool. I'll see if I can borrow one and find some sort of number

I don't have a prop tool either. I think there are several different sizes, but I'm not completely sure which one for our SJ year. Most of them are under $15 on ebay from what I've seen.
