If you can track him down, I wouldnt just go try to get in a fight with him about it. I would approach him with the attitude that its an awesome ski asking how much he will sell it together or as parts. Verify its yours, with audio in your pocket, an asking price, and a name of the seller, then descritely call 911. Stating there a fight, which is probably true, gets them there fast.

Depending on SC state wiretapping laws, recording secretly could get him into trouble.

Take the police with you when you go to look at the ski/after you confirmed it is yours possibly. My friends downhill bike got stolen and as soon as we found it on craigslist we took a look to confirm and then just phone the police and took the bike back. Be careful about secretly recording the guy since that is sometimes illegal in different states...

Since it would obviously be yours.... being a AM hull. Id take my friends Smith and Wesson with me. Check it out, if its yours, kindly say don't move or im about to blow your knee caps off. Call the cops, or just take your ski back.

Then you can think about your ski from jail. For all he knows the guy selling it has no idea it is stolen. Minus the lack of paperwork. Or maybe it has a 550 title now..

I got my ski back on Sunday! I followed up on the tip I received which turned out to be correct. I made screen shots of the two douche bags along with pics of their truck from the store security videos, posted them on my wife's FB account Saturday afternoon. The deputy sheriff posted them to their site. Sunday morning they got a call from the mother of the suspect and by early afternoon I had my ski back. The trailer was still missing but I got a call from the deputy today saying they found it today. The ski is in good shape mechanically but the paint job is unbelievably effed up. It looks like the guy tried to repaint it with roof patching cement or something. The hood got painted green, then red then black. It is so screwed up. I am going to strip it back down to the gel coat and repaint. I am happy to have it back but I am extremely pissed about the paint. Thanks for everyone's support.

Pictures cannot really show how screwed this paint job is.

^ I was thinking the same thing. Like why paint the ski if your going to leave that stuff on. One these guys should get the poop kick out of them for stealing, then for fudging up a good looking ski in a terrible attempt, then again for being so stupid to leave the one thing that ties the ski with you. Lucky for morons you got your ski back tho. Congrats!
