Superfreak circus carbon fiber repair

So I bought a damaged superfreak circus and the through hull drive shaft tube is broken on the inside and at the pump tunnel. Also the carbon exhaust tube looks melted and over heated at the end where it goes into the big exzost tube in back of hull. I will post pics this weekend.

Looking for advice on what kind of carbon and epoxy to use. I talked to Adam at wavedayz I will be putting flexible hose in the middle of the drive shaft tube and exhaust tube to alow for hull flexing. I will have to cut a access hole in the tray to access thees points. I would like to know what type and size carbon fabric to use on the pump tunnel, exzost tube and for the tray. Any advise is greatly appreciated. I have some good experience with fiber glass this will be my first carbon repair.

Planing on using west systems 105 and 205 on the inside along with some body panel bonding epoxy adhesive and possibly some more flexible west systems epoxy adhesives. On the out side I will be using 207 hardner for the outside to prevent yellowing. Need advice on abrasives for prep and fabrics for repair.

Definitely go with 2+2 twill for any repairs that have curves. The way the threads are weaved together allows it to go around almost any curve without having to cut reliefs in the fabric. 2+2 twill is also commonly used for visual carbon layups because it looks awesome. In my experience doing hand laid composites, I've had much better luck with doing multiple layers of a 8oz weighted fabric as it's much easier to work with, less chances of air pockets which weaken the layup and also keeps everything lighter than heavier fabrics such as 17oz biaxial. Also use less resin. Cut your tray open and post lots of pics and you'll get some good suggestions on what to do. There's lots of talented glass people on this site.

Wasn't he advertising that as mint condition??
No, it wasn’t advertised as “mint” when i listed it for sale. Ironically the ski was sold to me as “ perfect condition and ready to ride” and didn’t run when i received it. Funny how nobody is bashing the seller that sold it to me.

Machodoc91 was a great guy to meet and deal with. He was very happy with the hull when he came to pic it up. There is no bad blood between us. No need for you keyboard cowboys to twist around something you know nothing about.

Time warp on this one.

Actually really curious because this SF was posted as ready to Rip your arms off and needs nothing after having a ton of hours into it making it right.

If the buyer is happy that's cool and between him and the seller. However I'd love to know why the ad was written in what seems to be a little short of honest.

Again, speaking about stuff you have no clue about. You are irrelevant to this situation yet, have a strong negative opinion.

let’s clear some things up for you haters.

i purchased that circus as “ready to ride” and “in perfect condition”. Long story short, it didn’t run. It had mechanical issues and a bunch of stupid little issues that would have left someone stranded in the middle of the lake. I went through the ski, fixed the issues that i found, water tested it, it didn’t have spark, back to the shop, fixed it, then successfully water tested it. I’ve got footage of me riding it and it ran excellent. Funny how the seller that screwed me over gets a pass from the internet when he blatantly ripped someone off.

I then listed for sale as a USED whole or a hull because i completely lost interest in skis after getting screwed over on yet another deal. It was listed as “ready to rip your arms off” because it would. “Mint” was not in the ad.

Chris (machodoc91) came over and purchased the hull from me. We later found out that inside of the carbon exhaust tube had a crack in it. Chris pressure tested it for reassurance and it didn’t hold pressure. So yes, i missed something. I’ve never once in 16 years of messing with skis have seen a cracked exhaust tube, but I’ll be sure to check from now on. Chris and i have been in contact and he’s been compensated and we are taking care of the issue. He’s a good dude and understanding about what happened. We both missed an issue yet, it was resolved and life moves on. Again, there’s no bad blood. I’ve never understood why all you internet tough guys spread so much hatred and BS to manipulate stories into something they aren’t.

Are you planning on doing a simple wet layup or something more advanced like vacuum bagging or even resin infusion?

You are making assumptions here. This kind of post is just stirring poopE up. Not needed. OP made a Postive Post Review. He is happy, Seller is fine.
Let it go.

Dude, There is already a Neg Feedback thread from Both of you. This not the place to keep beating this dead horse........ The buyer in this case is satisfied. I bought my Freak and found out it had a similar issue. Nobody knew about it. Due to other issues that are known with the Freaks I marked it up to just normal issues you have to deal with when you own a carbon freak.

Too late to tell the thread and all pics were deleted. That sucks to have to go through all that after just buying a hull you probably paid a pretty penny for
You just finished a Freak, what all issues did you find with yours? I found a ton. https://www.x-h2o.com/threads/not-just-another-superfreak-build.178510/ Did not blame the seller for any of it. Disclaimer, If anyone buys a carbon freak, unless you know that the tray was cut out and lines replaced, go ahead and plan to do this if you are returfing or pressure test. This what I learned. Seller and Buyer did what you are suppose to do. They discussed it instead of one of them getting on here bashing the other. They came up with a plan that worked for both....... This is the perfect example of what you are suppose to do. Not come here and start crap up.

Some People Edit Thread Title with "Sold", some do nothing. Some delete original post and just put SOLD. Does not matter. Any issue between Buyer and Seller is between them.
Yeah I don’t care so much about this specific context, more how _threads_ can disappear, because I thought they couldn’t. I get that people can edit _posts_ within a thread, and I guess this is probably just a terminology thing. All good.

thread not deleted, he just edited the content after he sold it. that is his and anyone's option to do. But no thread was deleted.

Ive bought 2 carbon freaks in the last year and both had issues, neither the sellers could have known about just to be clear. My carbon titan did have a cracked exhaust tube, easy fix. An insert needed repair as well, no big deal. My circus has needed to be gone through almost completely with new aluminum lines (common issue on all superfreaks as stated) and midshaft inserts needing repair which I knew about before purchasing and is a common circus problem. If you are not ready to address insert issues or other small things in a used aftermarket hull you are better off buying new, some things are easily disclosed and seen but other things there is no way of knowing until you cut into it. Both are happy with the transaction it seems like?
