I got this weather stripping in a 10' roll from GI Joes. It's about an inch wide, 3/8" thick, but it squishes down and makes a channel so it stays in place.

No leaks yet. ;)

The Hydro-Turf hood seal gasket is 1" thick and and only cost $16. We recently starting using the Plush underpad to make these. http://hydroturf.com/products/Accessories_-_PWC/Hood_Seal

Ive tried the old style HT 1" black on a square once and it lasted one summer before it looses its memory and dries out. I cant see how the thick mushy grey under padding is gonna be much better. But hey, you get what you pay for and $16 is cheap compared to OEM($100 +/-), but it will be OEM for me on the RN.

Mr. Turf, why do you think this 1" under padding will work better?

Hi guys, im down and out finding that my hood seal is completely shot, and finding out that oem is over 100.
What have you guys found out about what works best?
I have looked at all your prior posts and the quick easy looks to be the hydroturf seal, or mcmastercarr
Hydroturf wants $11 to ship me a $16 item that no one is giving me confidence about.

hey everyone. New to this forum and to stand ups but I have a quick question. I just bought an 88' kawasaki js550 and the fuel lines were all routed wrong and i cannot figure out for the life of me how they should be ran. So does anyone have pics or a chart on how they are ran. Couldnt find a service manual anywhere. Sorry i posted here. Not sure if I have sufficient rights to start a new thread being a noob. Thx in advance.......

Welcome to the X.
There is a section (on the main forum page) for 550's & such. You may have better luck there.

I have Watcon seals on 2 ski's. Very pleased. I can't say that they are better than OEM, but I've yet to replace one after install and have had no problems. Prep is everything. Can't beat the price.

I just installed one. Pulled the old one off, prepped with acotone, then used rubber cement. I didn't worry too much about old glue, though there was hardly any on there. Not only did I rubber cement the bottom part of the groove, but the walls of it two and used two coats.

Pretty much just followed the instructions, then stuck it on there....

I used different dremel bits to grind the glue off when I did mine - the black brush bit and the sandpaper flapper wheel worked best, and the wire brush as well. I went through a bunch of them though, the wear out quick.
