I bought this today...

I wasn't sure when I was gonna be able to work on it. It's 1/4" plate.

To add condition to insult... i've apparently had some sort of IBS today...

My wife and kids are like.....

Anyway... I have a hour or so to kill... I bust out some firehose action in the commode and head to the shop...

I'm looking at this big ass piece of metal like...

But inside i'm like...

I try to cut it with my grinder....


I swear the aluminum was like

Then I remember!

I have a carbide blade circular saw...


So I proceed to......

And I wind up with this....

But I got to thinking... how well is that epoxy going to hold the smooth metal surface..?

Adjust saw.... and......................

Measure... cut 2x4 to width...



Mix epoxy and cabosil....

Viola!

Yay I did stuff...

I agree looks good not trying to bust your balls just noticed out of the 54 pages there was more BS'ing going on then building. But u came out of the woodwork's with progress :cheer2:

I generally try to incorporate a story into a update. So I'll sit on pics and stuff until something gif worthy materializes.

the limited number of deep cuts are going to be the only grip you have. i just said 40 grit but i would have takes a sidewinder grinder to it.

the anticipation is often better that the reality of things. and holy $hit! i just looked at page one and the pix and i know this boat. chris & lisa from the stocton area had it with an RRP pole, sold it to isaac, who robbed the pole off and sold it to chris elmore who must have sold it to the kid that swapmeet bought it from. thats funny.:shocked:

I just want to bump this up... cause he edited the post to mention the owner history of the ski which is pretty cool.

I'm almost afraid to ask which one of ^^^ these folks did some of the "Mods".
But... it would certainly lend credibility to how much Mr Brah didn't have to do with the ski.

As far as the plates, they'll be held on by the layers of CF, and the bolts holding the holds in place.

I guess I could have cut them up more... I was pretty happy with the grooves the saw made.

Ok, still working. I realized I have a bad case of A.D.D..... So hard for me to make time to work on this when I have so much other stuff to do.



Anyhow...
First I mixed up some resin and sealed around the plate for water ingress around the hold holes. Thanks to ZM006 (I think that's the right name.) for the reminder in his thread.

In order for the CF to wrap I needed to give the edges some shape. I'm not sure it will work, but I know it will help.

Plus, I don't think it's good to leave voids around the plate when I lay the cloth.

I tried to make a pattern out of paper but the contours are too much. I wanted to lay everything up one piece at a time, but I don't think I can. So this is kinda what I'm thinking for cuts. With overlap.

Judging by Mr Brah's glass work and skills hes displaying on his build at the moment..I'd say he either got his feet wet and used your ski as his learning curve...Or he "really" did buy the ski the rough shape it was in.. His work now, does not look like this did..( not defending him, just taking notice is all)


-Why is it to no suprise, That in some way Shape..or Form...The Buzzard knew about this ski..Im sure he made a finders fee or something at the time..The Buzz Strikes Again!..

Yeah, i'm just bustin balls.

But seriously... For those of you who have done your own tray lay-up etc... Do you see what i'm talking about, having the blue be once piece of CF and the orange be another piece?
I don't think my 19oz CF has enough drape to get down into those hold spaces and cover the tray in one shot.

I guess it doesn't matter, i'll figure it out. Maybe do a... I dunno 3 or 4" overlap.

Hind sight being what it is, I should have scuffed side of the plate facing out while they were out. Now I have to do it while they're in the hull so the CF will stick better. Live and learn.

3 or 4" should b plenty, when I did my nose chop I was told to glass 6" beyond where I cut stock hull

So not sure if anyone noticed when I posted about the IBS/ firehose action.... I was joking at that moment..

But apparently I may actually have IBS. I'm miserable... I should totally be working on my ski like... 'Right now...' Instead I'm stuck on the couch under a blanket that oddly smells like vomit on one end, and I'm keeping a clear path to the restroom.

Just in case anyone is like 'suck it up!'....... this isn't just potty emergencies, its like a whole body thing. I'd probably forget to add hardener to the resin if I tried to work right now lol....
