Took out the BC yesterday...

Felt a little more confidant with the limiting rope. Pretty stupid not running one until now.

(I added turf to the hull around the hook since that pic.)

Had to remount my bilge, it came off after some flat landings last outing, so bilge is good.

I feel like I need to mess with the pitch on the impeller. I think i'm running a 10/16 Hooker, and i'm wondering if a lower pitch might suit me better. It feel like i'm getting a ton of top end (high rpm) thrust thats not really useful to me. I dunno... I sold the spare 9/15 I had, may have to 'borrow' it back.

I shortened the X metal pole up about an inch. Most people complain about how short the pole is, but if you ride the BC a lot, its easier to ride aggressively with a shorter pole.

Just playing around I tried leaning back/ pulling on the pole a little... and holy crap, this thing will point straight up easily, even with a long/ full length plate. The second time I did it my ass hit the water before the ski did.... I seriously got off and checked if the ride plate was there LMAO! Its easy to forget how much pitch change you can get on this hull by shifting your body weight because it feels so stable.

The biggest thing holding me back from doing "flips n' chit"... is my head. I can tell how capable this hull is, just dicking around I can get it to pop out of the water so easily. So when I head into a good size boat wake, I have a hard time 'sacking up' because I know i'm gonna get a lot of height if I gun it, and i'm not sure how i'm going to land. Its something that i'll have to work my way up to but i'll get there.

Unless you're riding in shallow water and you may hit your head on the bottom you have nothing to worry about. You won't hurt your head, just giver some! And don't let go

So... I tried riding with both feet back yesterday. Went to do a nose stab and ended up hitting my forehead on the handle bars... with a helmet on. So yeah...
But honstly i'm worried about landing wonky/ flat/ or the ski landing on me. More the first two because i've had some unplesant landings I'll get there, I just need some success landing some other stuff... This thing landing in the water is very different from a SJ hitting the water. Dunno... I guess i'm old and don't have that flair to do dumb shiz like I used to.

But I prefer to know that its 'me' thats holding me back, and not my ski. That's nice.

You need to cut that plate down, it's a totally different ski

I don't want to cut it until I have another one to put back on it. And I guess my best chance to get one is to wait on my new hull...

Agreed on the plate chop. I haven't ridden mine with a long plate. Chopped it of flush on sides and +2 in center before the first ride and I love it.

It doesn't hurt landing upside down, I've done it plenty. Hitting your forehead on the handlebars... Sounds like your limiting rope may be too long?
Important thing is you're having fun and enjoying the new ride! The rest will come in time

Sounds like riding with both feet back is the worst idea ever LMAO...

Yeah, its a blast for sure. Still learning how it responds, but I swear every time I stab the gas on my little 760-770-whatever it is and the damn ski jumps out of the water... i'm like "holy $&%#!!!" Its still a awesome surprise each time I go out.

I still say that I should have bought a hull first and stuck a tiny motor in it. I love love love my JM781, but having a light hull (for freestyle) is where its at IMO.

We're taking some time off from riding because we're trying to move. Might hit the lake during the week on day, but the next couple weekends will be dedicated to getting the house on the market.

I'll let you know if I get free'd up one day. It'll be short notice so keep your trunks in your truck.

Hey Swap, can I be first in line if you ever want to sell this thing? Not Joking. :poke:

I appreciate the offer, that will be up to Steve though as the hull is going back to him in the near future. I'm a little melancholy about it to be honest, the paint work on this ski is sick...

At the lake i'm like "Oh snap i'm tired as F!"

Yo, Mew... I already saw this ski in person last Sunday on the way from Surfside.. So I guess I beat ya... lol

Since I saw this hull in person for the first time, my first reaction was how freaking small the hull was! The paint job was super nice and I was definitely impressed with it. I wish I could have rode it. I have not ridden an aftermarket hull yet, just stock factory skis. I didn't asked Robin if I could ride it because I was so tired from the long arse drive from Surfside, TX (4 hours drive but I live a couple hours farther so 6 hours total).

P.S. Robin, I'm glad you did the bilge switch in the S/S housing. One of the best mods I ever did!

If you'd gotten there a little sooner I would have been happy to let you try it out. And thanks again for the great idea on the switch. I need to let that RKO guy know about it if he doesn't know already.

Hey Swap Love Lurking reading your threads. How did you hook your limiting rope to your pole? Got a pic? thanks

Thanks! This one is a little bit more low key, but i'm trying to make up for all the BS in the last thread. I looped the rope around the steering stop and ran it through the slot in the xmetal adjustable pole thingamahdo. I'm not sure its the best way, but its one way.

I'll get a pic.

So, i've been slacking on updates but I haven't done much to the ole Chan.

I did finally cut my ride plate earlier this month.

Took off 4" on the ends and 3" in the middle.

Installed...

Steve suggested that I taper the vertical edge of the plate to keep it from catching water as much... so I did.

The top of the taper hits where the hull ends.

Why did you cut down the plate, the ski has no problems backflipping with the longer plate ;-) and after riding this ski I was finally able to see how one rode. Will's had too much power for me but a b-piped big bore is definately the way to go when learning how to ride an AM hull. Hopefully I can order my own when I get back from basic in Feb.
