if there is a large crowd, look for ally, ronny will be close by:biggrin:

He's gonna get you for that!! That was a great post - everyone should add some more tips for next year's newbies. Here are a few of mine:

If P-Diddy says "hop on the back of my golf cart, I'll give you a ride" just walk. Trust me.

Never lay down in the dark behind a golf cart that someone just put in reverse. It seems so obvious to me now....

Bring money for plam trees - they cost $50 each.

Bring money for bail: $160.

Don't stand near Nick when he's getting a ticket for having a glass container on the beach unless you want to be left holding his stash :sneaky:

Not as many spring breakers will show you their bewbies as you might think.

More jetskiers will show you their bewbies than you might think.

Some of them are female....

Great wrap up posts! I would like to roll some thanks to some of the same previously mentioned people:

Penguin for cooking and providing so much,
MILF for the great food and sweet disposition,
Michael950 for getting shirts printed, fronting the cash, and dealing with the distribution,
Ronny et al from Riot for coming and bringing more flavor to this ride and taking all these great pictures to promote the sport,
AllStock for lifting my ski off the sand more times than I can remember and keeping Cat from getting swept away from the sunken Octane,
Kaveman for rounding up my ski after we got separated,
BigKahuna for the awesome fried catfish! Cat and I were still craving it Sunday night,
AWA and Chris Manthos for giving up some swag to give away,
Royal Flush for the killer koozies,
RMBC for the awesome super secret pancakes,
Yamaslut for coming, showing us some skillz, and being such a cool guy to chat with,
parrdaddy for flashing me his speedos,
KA for getting my doggie water,
Everyone who I havent mentioned and who came from out of town to make this get together what is was. It is so great to catch up with faces you might only see a couple times a year, if that. And to add to the list of things for newbies to would be
15) just start meeting people at the ride and make friends. I've heard stories of so-and-so who didn't know anybody so left on Saturday, but I also was told a few times of people who said they were practically strangers but were completely accepted by people at the ride.

Personally, one of the things that I get out of these events (like Lanier last year as well) is a huge return on investment in that I don't have to spend alot of money or stress about all the little things leading up to a competition event, yet I get back huge returns in the ultra-friendly atmosphere where everybody will help anybody and the ability to just have a good time. So, I hope we're spreading that at least a little to some people who came for the first time or are thinking about going to the next one where ever it is.

OK.... you guys are freakin' killing me. I am rolling in the floor laughing & crying over this stuff you all are writing. I am so glad I'm not old or I would be wetting my pants right now. And WTF Adrian, why would anyone lay behind a golf cart? Too much English tea:biggrin:

did she ever make you pay for anything Adrian?

I'll get her back bigtime. I have all year for payback. I can be a real bastard like that.

No, but it was hilarious: she said "those palm trees cost $50 each and I don't expect you're about to pay for THAT!!". I must have been surrounded by $250k minimum in trucks and skis  I counted 4 trees, and if I'd had $200 on me I'd have given it to her right then gone across there in the truck with a chain to recover my newly purchased foliage :arms:

Brit,

Sorry I was not there to back you up, but as a horticulturist I have to look at the soil in which the palms were growing. If I were to take a soil sample I assume I would see sand. Hmmmm. Anyway, even with a 2-ton truck I do not think there would be any compaction of the root zone that would cause ANY anaerobic, anoxic, or hypoxic conditions. There may be some stress to the roots, however seeing they survive in such an environment (hurricane winds, salt spray, salty water, high temps, lack of irrigation water and only precipitation as a source of water) I think they would survive. Also, unless you drove within a foot of the palms, there would have been NO disturbance to the roots as they have a small root zone (think of those HUGE berlapped palms with a small root ball).

Now, if the soil consists of a sandy loam or clay loam then your vehicle traversing the ground would cause a reduction in the pore space found in the soil; also known as compaction. This would reduce the amount of oxygen exchange in the root system and may cause a reduction in plant vigor.

I think it would be safe to say some fertilizer would have compensated any soil compaction you may have caused (poo = high nitrogen). In other words sht on her lawn.

BTW: I will speak with a friend of mine at school, he works for Hines Horticulture (grower) working the Home Depot garden center. He knows the retails of all the plants there, I will check to see if she overpaid.

So, your saying that we should have crapped on her lawn? We were actually planning to do that as it happens!!

SJBrit, was that your wife that was thrown so hard from the cart? She really hit hard. I was quite worried about her till she poped up and told Pditty to get his bony ass out of the drivers seat. :hail:

Yup - that was Suzi. She's been doing dangerous things on horses since she could walk, so she's good at falling (and from a much greater height at high speed!!). She's fine - just a bruise. I heard a massive CRRRACK! when she fell so for a second there I didn't know whether she was going to get up

I heard that too! That is why I was so scared.

Don't want to hijack this, but send me a pm sometime and let me know about her background with horses. (I love horses and hated the day I had to sell mine.)

The best thing is it was all recorded on video. Let's not forget the D.I.P. (Drunk In Public) and the cellophaned legs so you have to go pee all together on the bad boy bus. LMFAO:haha:
And you stink when ya all have to pee together!!!
