Everyone keeps going back to the sales thing. You all are forgetting that they sell almost every 2 stroke ski out every spring. They are only allowed by law to sell and produce 200 or so. If they where allowed to sell more, I guarantee they would make more. Before the EPA rules, they where producing 500 or more each per year. After the rules, the X-2, 650sx, the FX-1, 550sx, Blaster and all other forms of small 2 stroke where canned within a year or so and they made only enough stand ups to meet Homoligation. Kawi brought back the X-2 overseas because there was no EPA over there. Yamaha produced the 800 blaster overseas as well. I guess this is a chicken/egg argument but I have been in this industry as a rider, tech and salesman for more than 18 years now. Stand ups and small craft died purely because of the EPA. Manufacturers put r&d into four strokes because they had to. The EPA demanded it in the late '90s. That's when all the great skis died. From that point on, you cannot compare sales numbers because the numbers are clearly scewed by what they where allowed to produce. The profit margin is much higher on a two stroke as long as the EPA doesn't limit your production numbers to 200 per year. Once your limited, it makes little since to keep producing the 2 stroke. This is a perfect example of big powerful government taking our rights away from us. At the current rate of production, there are less that 4 skis sold per state from each manufacturer. There is no way that can possibly impact the environment but of course, the EPA is not about the environment, it's about power. Power we grant them by voting in corrupt politicians year after year. Take away the EPA back in the 90's and stand ups, blasters, and x-2 would still reign king. There was never any shortage of interest in skis until all the global warming environmental crap came to the front in the mid to late '90s. They are to blame, period. Ignore this and your just being ignorant. Once you know the cause of the problem, you can fix it. Until we understand what we are up against and do something to stop it, we can forget about riding stand ups in the distant future. Anyways, do you really think they will stop at this point. The next step is to tell us that we can't use 2 strokes at all. If we don't speak up now, it is coming. Mark my words.

BRAVO!

100% CORRECT!

Now lets do something about it November 2

Take the time to find out where OUR "Elected Officials" stand on our sport.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet:

On Yamaha's website for the 2011 Superjet, some small text says: "Available for purchase with Racing License only".

This note is not shown on the 2010 model page.

WTF is a Racing License and how can I get one, before the rush??? I want to be grandfathered in when that ish hits the fan.

I can just see it...5 years from now I'll have to carry a banner saying some fake race name, and plant it on shore so I can enjoy a peaceful ride in a "sanctioned race event". At least I'll always come in 1st.

The EPA can bite me...

I was at the Dealer meeting in Georgia couple months ago -

Word from their engineers - They will still make the SJ - they wont provide warranty only on the 2010. You must have a IJSBA race membership he was saying. Kind of like a loop hole. In 2010 they sold only 200 Superjets Nationwide well 199 cuz I picked up a 2010 back in March

Aramis, LOL. I hope they have figured out a Loop hole that allows registration. From what I've read, it only allows the use for racing and they wont be registrable, however, last time I read an IJSBA rule book it required the ski to be registered. Not sure how that would work since theres not really such a thing as a private lake or ocean to race in that would not require registration.

BTW, to be a "Licensed Racer" you need an IJSBA or AWA card. It's the same as it was with the Octanes. Just buy a membership, get the ski, simple, easy, cheap.

As far as SXRs are concerned, I could care less about them anyway. The SJ is the bomb and with the newer hull, it's a good race boat too. Sxrs are way too heavy for free riding and thats what 90% of us do anyway. Sad to see them go but Kawi hasn't made a light stand up since the 650sx and that was under powered. Good bye SXR. Thanks for getting the "Good times rolling" Kawasaki.

How will the "survivors" be able to get VIN numbers? I think that is really the most important aspect. I am sure there will be loop holes. But the VIN @ is very important. Thoughts?

Mine's a '90 and I just broke the original front cover two weeks ago. Not bad I guess. Time for some hood mods, nose mods and paint I guess. Its second coat in 20 years. Guess I can keep her running for another 10 or 20 if need be. Kiss my arse EPA!
