So I 3D printed an elbow mold, wrapped it in a few layers of pregged carbon tape, and power washed the print out.

I like where this is headed

Now you see why I put so much value on my time and effort for assembly. Lol.

haha yea dude, NOW i understand. It's been blood, sweat, and tears over here, lol. All well worth it in the end though I'm sure. It's going to make me love this boat like it's my own child, I can already tell.

Don't ya love the 21st century! Keep up the good work man!
Here here, Don! BTW people, Don has been the guiding light on this build. Three cheers to him!

Seems like that could make or break a Freak build.
I really want to compliment the brand with this build! I know Tem and team builds them with love and care, so I'm obligated to do the same.

Maybe I missed something, but is that plastic pipe just for a trial fit? (I hope so) Now you've got a nice Carbon 3-D elbow... I hope it will be mated to a carbon tube????

Please don't use plastic in that hull. If it gets too hot and melts, you will be tearing back into it. A guy here had a plastic exh. tube in his hull and it melted partially closed. He went thru 2 engines, trying to figure out why his ski ran like poop.

McRider's got it. But which plastic pipe? The black one in those pictures is my drain pipe - ABS Foam Core DMW. But there won't be any plastic in the exhaust. The carbon elbow is mating up to the carbon exhaust pipe Tem made for me. The print material is actually more like a hardened powder, so it was easy to just blast out with water.

It was all I had. It's about 0.125" in wall-thickness. I didn't have any bagging material or a vacuum pump so it's probably a bit heavier than it needs to be.

cool i have had to repair 2 carbon exh tubes one in a freek and one in a KDX booth melted/thinned out and was flaking away where the rubber hose clamps on.
Nice build by the way, you git to do it the way you wont it done.

That's it! It's like going to McDonalds - have it my way. That's interesting that the exhaust tubes are doing that. The tube Tem sent with my ski is lined with gelcoat it looks like on the inside - it might be an epoxy finish though. I know they're doing autoclave or oven cooking on some of their parts, and I think those types of parts are suited better to high temp application. We will have to see if it starts causing a problem - hopefully it wont.

Did the exhaust pipes on that KDX and freak start leaking water under the tray?

no water in tray its like the oil and exhaust just thinned the pipe out, X-metal now uses aluminum tubes and the one that did have probs was
pats personal boat that was sold used.

It gets a coat of thickened epoxy before the carbon or sleeves go on tube.
