The Official 66e freestyle/freeride thread

We ran the stock 66e while we were waiting on domes for the big bore. Stock bore 66e, Riva head, I don't recall the dome size (I'll take a look at the shop later), no powervalves, WDK exhaust and intakes, stock reeds, and a pair of stock 44 carbs. As far as a comparison to a 701.........it has more power. Comparing the stock 800 to a ported 760 with high compression..........the 760 had more power. Once we got the domes and bumped it up to 1000cc thats when we noticed the huge difference. The main thing we need to now is add V-Force reeds, a reed spacer, and some good carbs. We are going to build our own spacer and use V-Force reeds for a 701/760 and put a couple of Riva carbs on it, also setting the pump back three inches. We are going to start on that next month so I will keep you updated on the results.

The port timing on the 800 (66e or 66v cyls) isn’t good for low end. Cutting 1-1.5 mm off the bottom of the cylinders will make the timing much better. This is my plan to wake up my 800. Not sure which carbs I’ll run with yet. I’ve got the stock I body carbs and a pair of modified sbn 46’s and a single powerbomb.

I’ve got my bed plate drawn up but Tom and I are pretty busy so I might send it out to get it plasma/water cut if it’s cheap enough and just weld it at the shop. The B-pipe manifold will be next.

We had originaly planned on making our our manifold also, just got lazy and went with Jeff's. I think the B-pipe is a great idea and should work like a champ. Can't wait to see how it turns out :bigok:

nice...I cant wait to see the difference!

I have 41cc domes...but according to the riva catalog those are the biggest they make, so I doubt they'll be usefull..

I want to keep compression around 170ish..

you mean stock PV's, or NO pv's???????/

Ill be using Jeff's exhaust and mani's......the reeds that came with it are carbon, but I dont know what kind..

For Carbs ill find a set of dueling 44's, or if I can scare up another powerbomb I already have 1 of those..

Is it possible to do a static timing advance on a 66e like on a 701 motor? I noticed a HUGE difference when I did that for the first time...

no but you can buy an offset key.

I have an offset key for my 4-wheeler. Here is what one looks like:

yes mine is up and running
weather is keeping me from getting the carbs dialed in but it rips!
blows my full ltd sxr away on acceleration!
its well worth it!
cant even think of what a 927 will be like
it was @ daytona last week for those who attended to see
vomit

I wonder how much punishment an offset keyway can take in a watercraft because watercraft have no transmission to take up the shock when the driveline comes unhooked then hooked.

Big powered GPRs have been running those keys with success and they put a lot more strain on the cranks.
