I'm originally from Lincoln Nebraska and worked at the Kawi factory welding bike/quad frames for a couple years back in the early 90's and my friend that found the ski lives 40 miles south from the Kawi factory. He was just here on vacation from the winter for a month or so. He has connections through the local dealership in Lincoln that has connections to the big wigs at the Factory.
The meeting is all set up now and they are very, very interested.
This one is much nicer than the current ones they have in their museum according to close sources.
Let the negotiations begin!

We just got done wrapping the Jetski with saran wrap, then sleeping bags with duct tape, then a Factory Kawi green SX-R cover fit over top of that..LMAO...:biggrin:
ITs been insured for high dollars for the ride back home too!

I remember a guy that had a matching pair of first year mint 400's ( a + b models) on here or SBTtoday that contacted Kawasaki about selling them the skis for their collection. From what I remember they pretty much laughed and said "why would we want those? Don't you think we don't already have some?" Good luck on the sale. I hope it works out for you.

Ya, I've seen those and they've been used before. They weren't exactly mint if you look closely at the pics. This one has never been used and its all original. Even the mats and the hood seal are primo.
Its funny that the pump bolts go down through the tray and the mats have slots built into them.
I agree it does takes the right buyers for about anything to bring top dollar, and thats Factory Kawi.
Like i said a mint 74 hand laid sold recently for $13,700.
Chris Macclugge and Bill Chapin(owner of R&D) were down there at Body today testing during our photo shoot and Chris said a friend of his in Cali bought a close to mint Hand laid pea green 73 for 7K some time ago.
So someone is going to make some money for sure.
