It's been a long time coming and still a few days away yet but I am more than ready for this to happen.
We set this in motion over 4 months ago and will finally close on our brand new house on April 27th. Mama gets a big new house and I get a 10'x19' bay dedicated to all things OCD.
The first "garage" project is to clean and epoxy paint the floor, second is my signature shelving unit in the back corner and then I can move in all my current benches and equipment. And of course all this will have to wait until after I get Mama all settled in and happy inside the house first, (surveillance cameras and blinds, in that order).
Storage is going to be a bit more of a challenge in this garage as I have trusses instead of rafters so the first order of business will be to build a general reinforced platform area and then build cubbies out over top of the load bearing walls so I shouldn't be placing any major weight on the trusses themselves.
I also plan to add a pathway through the entire attic to better facilitate any and all future mods. There will be cameras, network and TV, in ceiling/wall surround speakers and who knows what else.
This list will of course escalate quickly and likely take years to accomplish but here's a taste of what will hopefully happen in the next month or two.
- Epoxy floors
- Corner storage unit
- Folding attic stairs
- Build and mount PSB 5.1 sound system
- Attic platform and storage
- Upgrade cheap openers to Chamberlain belt drive openers with Wi-Fi features
- Wire and plum compressor into attic
- Insulate Attic over garage with R30
- Install 2T mini split Heat pump unit in Garage
- Add outlets for welding, Milling machine and Lathe
- Plumb hose reel for compressor
- Triple current lighting and switch to LED
- Biggest outdoor metal ceiling fan available
- Remote controlled "through ceiling" winch in center of bay.
- Finish welding out a 36"x72" aluminum work bench that I started just before the move.
** For the eagle eyes who spot discepencies, the pics from inside are from a neighboring house as I don't have any current pics of ours that don't look like a construction zone. The only differences are the placement of the attic hatch, electrical panel and ours has two HWT's in the corner.
There's even a test pond out back although I'm not sure I want to know the actual cost of using it.
