I'm getting a rude lesson in Procrastination 101 this week.
There have been 4 house projects on my to-do list for well over 3 years now. One is a significant project (replace a failed fiberglass walk in shower unit), and the other 3 are little loose ends left over after previous bigger projects already completed. We purchased everything needed for the shower unit about 4 months ago and planned to knock it out over the Christmas break.
Last week we approached a developer about commissioning a new home built to our spec and discovered that all the lots big enough for our desired floor plan are sold already. Lucky for us, they were already building our exact plan as a spec home and have it to lock up stage. The good news is, it will be ready to move into in less than 3 months vs 8-9 but the bad news is, we had to go under contract immediately and now I have to tackle and complete all 4 projects before we can list our current home to minimize how long we need to float 2 mortgages..
I have had the week off between Christmas and New Years and despite spending half that time dealing on the new home, managed to get 3 out of the four jobs banged out and the shower project about 80% completed.
I need another 3-4 days to wrap everything up but the holiday is over and I'm back to work tomorrow and on the road for the next 10 days! That's good news for my body but bad news for the completion date.
Oh yeah, and if ya'll are doing the math on that 10 days; that has me coming home on the 12th. That's 2 days after our Anniversary, one day after I am supposed to leave for Daytona and halfway through the 20 or so days I have left to get the house ready to list.
And don't even get me started on OCD commitments...
The silver lining to all of this...the new house has a 3 bay garage so The OCD Garage get's it's own bay.
