I agree, But this is not one of those situations I can shy away from. Her middle son is partly named after me....... If something happens to her, We are in her Will to take the kids.......... Once I get everything working and fixed wont be any more headaches. The Jackass was a moron. Could not drive a nail if the hole was pre-drilled.

Nah man I totally get it. I do the same stuff for my wife's parents. If i'm there and I see that something needs to be done, I do it. I don't offer, I don't ask, I tell my mother in law "hey i'm doing this, how do you want it done?" Long story but same kind of drivers you have with your situation but its health related, not jackwad exhusband related.

Concerning Calc, or math in general... yeah... I decided a long long time ago that I was gonna have to get by on my personality because I SUCK at math. Hate it. Hate. It.

I got one for ya.

For the past 6 years I have been dealing with an intermittent issue with the Sirius receiver in my truck. It randomly decides to belt out piercing white noise when the key is cycled on. Nothing will reset it unless you cycle the key off, flash the lights, pump the break light, open the door to trigger the dome lights, rub your belly, pat your head and bark like a dog three times and you might get lucky and have it reset and work properly after 2-37 cycles of the key. It's almost tolerable in the winter but the occurrences increase dramatically during the warmer months.

I never could figure out how to prevent it but I had adopted a system to reduce it by leaving the drivers door open until after I had inserted the key and rotated it to the start position. Once the radio powered up and was clear, I could close the door and start the truck.

I have researched it numerous times over the years but never seemed to find the right search criteria to net anything relevant. Last week I miraculously stumbled upon a different search criteria that netted a bunch of results including one that led me to a TSB from Mopar about my exact issue. It listed my specific radio module and the only fix was to replace the Sirius receiver.

So, I ordered the recommended replacement unit from ebay on Sunday night, it showed up yesterday and I installed it this morning. After 6 years of dealing with this annoying piece of crap, I resolved it with a $47 used radio and 35 minutes of my time.

My only thought now is, WHY THE HELL DID I TOLERATE THIS FOR SO F**KING LONG??????????????????????

Perhaps if I wasn't so busy building OCD goodness for you guys....

Your series/sequence of check downs in the first paragraph literally brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard at 6:00AM this morning. And, sir, I THANK YOU very much for that. Rub your belly, pat your head, and bark like a dog three times. Awesomeness. :)

Yeah I got something like that going on too. Weird how we put up with small annoying things for so long even though minimal effort is required to fix it. I installed a fairly expensive entertainment center in my truck when I first bought it 5-6 years ago. I say entertainment center because it's a flat touchscreen monitor. It does Sirius, Plays DVDs and CDs, Ipod, Radio, etc. (I have custom built box with under back seat with 10 inch subs as well). In order to make the DVD work while driving had to trick the radio into thinking the truck was in park with a separate switch that I never bothered to put in nicely. I had these wires just hanging down under my steering wheel. I don't watch DVDs when I drive... its more for the passengers. its technically illegal to use while driving because its mounted in the front dash. To this day I've only used the DVD player a handful of times.

Since day one of me owning this thing the antenna was never that great either. I couldn't pick up FM stations at all, not a huge loss since they all suck anyway, so I started listening to talk radio in the mornings.

At some point. Maybe the heat inside the car got to this thing. The touchscreen barely works and I have no control over the damn thing. Sometimes the volume doesn't work so I'm stuck on super loud listening to talk radio with my subwoofers first thing in the morning. I can't switch modes easily or adjust treble/bass settings. I spend like 20 minutes finger banging my screen just to change from radio to CD mode and by that time I've made to where I need to go. I can't sit in dead silence first thing in the morning on the way to work so I just put up with it.

I've put up with this crap for years now. I probably haven't played a DVD in the thing for 3 years (I pulled the switch out). I have the factory radio player still but never bothered to put it back in. Probably an hour of my time but I just don't cause I spent like $800 on this stupid piece of crap and I refuse to believe it desns't work right.

Can probably get parts but we're not a direct ferris dealer so it might be a little tricky. I'd have to check into it. If you give me a model/serial# and/or part number I could check into something if you'd like.
