the trivial complaints thread

I know dude, had a 15 year run with Chevy's and figured I would try another Toyota. Don't get me wrong, it drives good and has great power. The overall quality and materials used aren't even close...
I've wanted a Tacoma my whole life so this year I went all out and got a 2015 Trd pro model. I absolutely love the truck and will probably keep it forever but even being a Toyota fan I have to admit I am surprised at how much the truck lacks compared to competitors. I mean I got the top of the line model and asked for all options I was given. it doesn't have heated seats, no keyless entry, the sound system absolutely blows compared to my wife's 2012 Nissan, leather wasn't an option on the tacomas, the 4wheel low squeals like a banshee at 4mph, the back end sags like crazy with just my single place trailer loaded with two stand ups... Lots of disappointments compared to what I would have gotten with other models for 42k bucks. I love the looks of them though, I'm hoping the legendary Toyota reliability still exists. My dream car just didn't turn out to be as dreamy as I hoped.

Are they made that much better to justify the price increase? Seems as if mcdog got more options for less $ , no? Truck prices make me want to vomit. Insane

Truck prices are nuts. To replace my old beater with something comparable new would be $48K new....which is NOT going to happen. Even stuff with 60K miles and 6 yrs old are running $27K or so. I am just going to keep repairing mine as need be. Even $2K a year in repairs would leave me WAY ahead of buying new or used, plus my insurance is pennies for the old rust bucket.

Yah I bought my o4 duramax with 80,000 on it for $18,000 4 yrs ago,to upgrade to even a o8 with the same or more miles would be in the $30,000 range! For what? Newer creature comforts and a few ponys.
I will keep my old girl for a bit. Haha

I just can't justify buying new ever again. It loses so much value so fast and the prices are absolutely insane.

@Wet Dreams I didn't mean my comparison as a slam or anything, it's just that I'm too cheap to do what you did. I'm sure that Tacoma will last just fine and I hope you love it a long time.

No kidding. New car prices in general are out of control. I can't see myself ever dropping 30k on a vehicle unless it generates income for me greater than its depreciation. I spent $1k on my 97 Chevy 1500 and have probably put another $500-1000 into it for repairs over the last two years. Looks like a pos, but runs great. Plus I'm not the least bit concerned about resale value when I jump in the cab soaking wet from the lake or my dog climbs in the window leaving scratch marks all down the door.

Amen... I bought new once.

Pre-owned from now on. No sense in taking that hit driving it off the lot.

@Wet Dreams yeah i'm not knocking you brotha. If you bought a GM... yeah that's not a smart move to buy new. But not only will that truck last, it'll retain its value. I have a 07 4Runner with 126k/mi, I think I paid 16k when it had 105k/mi. Here's the crazy part, even when this truck has 200k/mi, 250k/mi, etc, they still pull 10k all day.

Bingo! The neighborhood boat launch is puny and requires a pretty tight turning radius to avoid all the brush on the sides. My neighbors with their pretty trucks and SUVs do 10,000 point turns to avoid scratching their vehicles. I pull in tight against the brush, turn the wheel, back up and it sounds like someone scratching their nails down a chalkboard as all the puckerbrush runs down the length of my 01 Dodge. But, I drop the boat or ski in the water in 30 seconds, and I'm done.

I have an 02 tacoma in the shop right now im about to do a timing belt on. Chick is getting ready to sell it , but shes wanti g 14k for an 02 extra cab with 112k on it. I thi k its insane but the even crazier thing is someone will buy it and think they got a smokin deal.

Haha man no offense taken at all!!!I hope I didn't come off as offended. I just meant that lots of used tucks are cheaper lol. I'm the first one to admit that tacomas are the most overpriced trucks to ever be sold lol. I've just always wanted one so I bit the bullet. You should have seen me bitching to my wife about how much the damn thing was for what I got

Been looking (paste tense) for a used Tacoma double cab. Most of them bitches are too high.l looked at an 07 manual with 125k.Screw that at $22000! Most of the 12,13,14's are ridiculously priced. Not when you can buy a new one with full warranty and new.Needless to say l ain't looking for a Tacoma any more.

And me in the car biz.......

Back in 2002 I wrecked my Mazda pickup. We had just done the flooring at the GLC dealer a year or so before plus I had rear ended the owners wife after she had slammed into someone first. I was not going to file my truck on insurance, would not have gotten much for it and did not want it on my record, asked them of they had a Tacoma 4 door, they had just sold one, but they had a Sonoma 4 door with really low miles. I drove it for a few days and then went to test drive a Toyota. I just could not bring myself to like the Toyota better than the Sonoma even though I knew resale was so much better. A few vehicles later I was in the market again. Went with a Nissan Titan 4 door. 7 years later and 117000 miles it's the best truck I have ever owned. But I loved that little GMC Sonoma. I loved my Avalanche that came after the Sonoma. But you could not get me to by a GMAIL Truck of any kind now. Don't think they are as good as they use to be.

I have been looking at Jeep Wrangler 4 Doors lately, not in market, just looking. That is about the only vehicle I would buy new, because 2 year old pretty owned are going for almost the same price as new. They freaking hold their value.

I hear they are very uncomfortable.

For less than 42k you could have 750 ft - lbs of torque, leather, heated seats, the list goes on. Picked this up for 40k with 25k on the odometer. 20141017_171227.jpg
