the trivial complaints thread

i hate traffic.

Yessss! Here in hawaii a piece of machinery that creates an additional lane during rush hour (basically it moves a line of concrete to add/take a line) broke down a few weeks ago. It delayed traffic for up to 10 hours. And to add insult to injury, the police were on motorcycles ticketing people for being on phones while they were in standstill traffic.

I'm not sure what's worse, micro managing bosses or high level managers that show up once a month, blow tiny things into huge things, set up meetings to stir everything up and then after getting the actual facts in the first 5 minutes, sit back all calm and relaxed like there was nothing going on in first place. Here's an idea, let's skip the drama roller coaster next time and just sit down and talk about things. We'll all probably live a lot longer if we do.

For example; a couple weeks ago i get an email asking why the new $20M piece of equipment that is less than 6 months old is such a piece of poop and having so many issues and having to have so many parts replaced on warranty? They wanted a list by the end of the day of all the outstanding issues as well as a list of every part replaced to date, as well as an action item list of how we plan to go forward on each point.

My response:
- Changed out an encoder stylus that operator broke during cleaning: DT 1.5 hours.

*There were more items on the list but they were all operational or programming issues that they were responsible for, not us.

I am driving down main street of this sketchy little town near me. I see this haggard looking dude step out onto the crosswalk. Ok, that's fine, better than stepping out from between two parked cars, so it's all good. He starts walking (which is probably too optimistic of a term because if he was going any slower he would have been going backwards). He gets 3/4 of the way across the crosswalk, which has taken pretty much an eternity, and now is directly centered in front of my truck. He stops and starts slowly, and seemingly aimlessly, reaching into his pockets and finally produces a cigarette and stands there holding up traffic lighting the thing in the crosswalk. At that point he almost became instantly and fully aware that smoking kills.........

Nothing will reset it unless you cycle the key off, flash the lights, pump the break light, open the door to trigger the dome lights, rub your belly, pat your head and bark like a dog three times and you might get lucky and have it reset and work properly after 2-37 cycles of the key. It's almost tolerable in the winter but the occurrences increase dramatically during the warmer months.

Yeah.....we are going to need some video proof.....or it never happened.

No video but you can ask ScottS. He was with me the other day when it happened and, after watching the above quoted sequence, shamed me into finally fixing it, lol.

Ordering parts you've wanted for a while, but then you gotta wait for them to show up

How about ordering parts, waiting for them, they show up and its wrong, you tell them (an actually dealer, not a joe shmoe), they admint fault and on the second round (wait another 5 days for shipping) still get it wrong. Not being able to ride for few weeks because of some one else's incompetence is irritating, all while they are out riding their 25K superfreaks. And you know because its posted all over their facebook page. Instead of sending back and getting a refund, and complain, and write a negative thread over a cheap but essential part, I just order from Jetmaniac (like i should have done to begin with) and had it at my hands correctly in 2 days. Lost 2 weeks of riding...
