Freestyle Pete makes the FP1.

Im in this same boat, looking for an aftermarket surf hull. I too have ridden a vast variety of different hulls but would have liked to clock more than 20 minutes on each. I was really digging the lightweight (little expensive) and the foot rocket. Due to the fact I enjoyed the foot rocket so much, I have a feeling I'd really enjoy the JB1, but it's hard to drop so much dough without riding one.

Not that cost is everything, the JB1 shipped here without paint/wrap comes in at about the same price I can pick up a rickter from TC. Im having a really tough time here.

Another hull I've had my eye on in the Vision 2.0 by the watercraft factory, Again... I'd like to ride one.

I've also been thinking and looking for a Good surf hull and was very close to pulling the trigger on a Vision but I was going for the full length 1.0 since the 2.0 is -4" and I think that's too short for surf personally. I also considered a used Rickter since there are a few out there right now but honestly liked the idea of the Vision better. A couple PMs later and I went a complete different direction... One I've always wanted to take, just didn't want to spend the money on. I think I'll be happy with my choice :)

No, that's not it. Krash makes the Footrocket and the JB1.
Somebody else down under makes the FP1, which looks more like a rockered SJ.

Krash also do a superjet based hull, it is a infused lay up. your choice of 07 or 08 bottom deck with or without rocker. Watty (who might chime in) has been purchasing them as parts and then assembling them. They are very competitivly priced, under $3000aud from memory

So your options from Krash are as follows

Footrocket
Jb1
07 style hull with or without rocker
08 style hull with or without rocker
All hulls are availible in glass or carbon/kev and carbon look

I have ridden and/or owned ricketers, 08sj, 07sj, eme, carbon superjets, xfts etc etc But for me the best all round surf hull is the JB1, carves hard, slides when you want it to, doesnt pearl, flips quick if you pull back or big and slow if you lean slightly forward, nice and stable and lots of tunabilty. If i was fitter and/or a more advanced rider I would be on the footrocket. These things are crazy, the footrocket would also be my choice as a competition ski.
heres my latest JB1

Wow this thread sure has blown up, and not in the right direction either. You guys are all CRAZY! The Ultimate all around SURF HULL is a 96-07 Superjet. Here's why;

1. A Roundy's just a good all around handling ski, its balanced really well in stock form

2. It's can be easily modded into a more extreme machine, like reshaping the front to a flip nose, adding Tubbies or hacking a few inches off the back to loosen it up even more.

3. Parts are plentiful, and readily available, you can get your parts almost anywhere in the world

4. They hold their resale value really well

And the most important-

5. The PRICE- Sure for those with deep pockets who want a specialty ski there's hulls that do certain things more easily, but for the price there simply isn't any other hull available that's as versatile or handles as well as a SJ. I've ridden most of big name aftermarket hulls and they all handle great, but none of them were a $6500 improvement over a good set up Super Jet

Our Vision hulls carves extremely well and really shines in the surf...just ask Flipside
I personally ride the yellow -4 Vision in both surf and flatwater. I can tell you that the -4 turns much quicker and will hook up and carve up and down the face of the waves far better than any SJ. The Vsion was based of an 08 SJ and then improved in many different ways.
We will have about 6 Visions hulls in Daytona this year including our first visual carbon one. Anybody is more than welcome to take them out for a spin.

Wide rails and hard carving is an oxymoron. The wide rails make skis stable as a sheet of plywood, but it then also carves like one (flat).

This is my main problem with almost every a/m hull i have ridden.

fwiw after a few yrs on an fx-1 a sj now feels like a butter knife compared to a razor..

Why leave tray alone? Curious?

superjet. cant be beat, downfalls are its weak, slow turning, chine walks, and needs mods to become a solid ski. my krash fr has none of those problems, but also costs more. my ski is missing my splash guard, and thats the only complaint yet. i want andrew totry it, if he can get over it being small, he would like it.

that thing needs a rail around the nose...

i dont understand why everyone makes hulls with no bondrail in the front...

it makes the nose stroger, there is something to grab on to, keeps spray down and it helps keep it from pearling...i smashed the whole rail off the nose of my old square and it pearled way easier without it...

i use the side of the tray to brace my front leg off...if the trays wider my stance has to be wider and when your stance gets too wide it looks silly...look at an old pic of jKs skis..his straps were right in the middle which made his stance super stylish...

That is one thing I miss about the SJ. Once you got used to it, it was nice to brace your leg against the gunwhale top. I should add some turf to the top of mine to make it higher.

I think it looks way better without the bondline there

It supposedly makes under rotated flips much easier to come out of. But there seems to be much more negative effects than positive... Like a mouth full of foam.
