Dayum, U stole it. Looks like a fun build, I think I would have taken the time ane effort to wedge a large pump in it though. I know it would be a huge undertaking, but whats HP w/o being able to put it to water? Its kinda like a 454 in a p/u truck w/ donut spares on the rear. Just my opinion though.
I have seen 750's wedged in these in the past and they were fast on top but still had NO bottom end due to the pump. Same issue as an FX1 really.

What is the solor pannels for? Did they effect preformance or just keep the battery running fully charged? Would never have to turn the bilge off~~ How much power would those pannels have to pull to trickle charge the battery at the same rate the bilge drained it?

As unbelievable as it sounds there is enough room in the stock pump cavity to move the pump back the required distance and still have sufficient area to seal the pump back into the hull,I think I have about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of the tunnel left to seal the pump up to, should be plenty. That also effectivly makes my pump tunnel larger which is a good thing considering the larger engine.I also test fit a 650sx intake grate up ,with a slight mod for the back mounting hole it will work, the front bolts up the same as the 550 grate .
The 750 adaptor plate should be in either Friday or Monday so I get to mock it all up and see how it fits then.

Bill has one of the prototype F18's with an Kawi 800 crammed in there, he took a 650 pump track and fit it into the hull.......... Keep in mind this was a boat he raced (or set up to race) that was a PRO-Mod setup..........

The solar panels were probably just a marketing ploy but it does actually work,I put a meter on it and it puts out about .5 amps,so basically its just a built in trickle charger.

They had a beautiful line of sit downs that never made it to market also.I looked at putting in a larger pump but I can't find a shaft length that will work and alignment will be a nightmare,I know I have done conversions like this before.I have a 1963 Montgomery ward Sea king runabout set up with a Seadoo 720 engine in it,every piece of that thing had to be custom built and aligning the engine was a total nightmare.I don't really want to go there again right now.

Well the conversion plate arrived today and after much cussing, grinding and cutting it finally fits, when I pulled the inner liner and fit it all up it lined up perfectly but when I put it back in the boat there were some alignment issues. The PJS engine bed plate is thick aluminum so the next stop is the machine shop to have the pads that the mounts sit on machined down.I used Seadoo motor mounts which gives me some leeway as far as alignment goes.Doos have shims under the engine mounts so I can shim under the mounts and between the bed plate and the mounts.Clearance between the exhaust and side of the ski will be tight,I had to cut the ex manifold, grind down a boss on the manifold and grind down a weld on the pipe..My bandsaw and grinder have been getting a work out on this build for sure.

Not much progress but I did do some turfing,it has side panels kinda like an SXR,so I turfed over those,I am waiting on some underpadding for the bottom so the bottom isn't glued on yet the panels are done and I also did the chin pad. This was my first time turfing with sheet stock,I think it turned out pretty well.

You gonna turf the dash too?
Really cool build. Nice work. Got your boys helping you out? It'd be a nice father/son project.

I am undecided on the dash so far,I am going to let my oldest son help me on his 650sx I think he will get a kick out of it as well.

Dont like the black pad? I gave up on trying to get those sidepanels apart in one piece (they where held together tighter than the 2 halves of the hull) and didnt have nearly enough patience to do another nice turf job. Plus mine ran.

Lets get something straight here ,this one ran also,In the ten plus years that I owned it there was never a time when it didn't run until now,the engine still ran perfectly and will be up for sale shortly.I am going to put a fresh top end and crankshaft seals in it before I sell it.

I was reading up on some of the weights posted here for bottom decks, just out of curiosity I weighed this one, without the liner installed its at 26.00 lbs on a crappy scale,I will get a weight on the hood ,handle pole, liner, and top deck later when I have the top deck all apart and the inner liner cut and reglassed.

Upper deck with handlepole, bracket, bars, switch, throttle ,steering plate and foam 50.05 lbs, hood 11 lbs, inner liner with shaft ,bearing housing , bilge bracket, straps, tank rubbers and a very heavy support plate 31.25 lbs so that gets us up to 118.30 lbs with most of the hardware installed not too shabby,I still have some trimming and glassing to do on the inner liner so I will have to reweigh that part and see where we are at then.:bigok:

So here is where I am at now,the pump tunnel is history, the inner liner has been cut and separated, the driveshaft, bearing housing and intake grate have my engine mounting location determined. The engine was moved back 8 1/2 to 9 inches total. Now I have to splash a mold of a 650 pump tunnel, build the tunnel, align everything and install the tunnel in the boat. The driveshaft-engine placement in the hull should be very similar to an FX1,driveshafts are the same lengths, since I now have the 650-750 style driveline my pump hookup and bulkhead issues are now history
