towing with sports cars

anyone do it? tow with a sports car? building a light low pro trailer for next year because for 1 stand up my f350 diesel is a PITA lol

yeah won't be able to do dirt ramps with the lowered race car lol. it has the power. just wonering who does it. and if you have a custom sweet trailer so it looks even more awesome

my bmw. 328ti with coilovers and a whole poop ton of other mos. its my old drift car that i just cruise with now. we towed a wr3 and a 750sx to the outter banks with a dodge dart. i know its possible was more looking to see if anyone had the cool factor. there is a hydro that comes out to my local lake towed by a g8 gxp and the trailer has 4 gxp wheels on it painted black (black car) with diamond plate and one sexy hydro on the trailer. was thinking something along those lines since the wheels that are on the bmw they offer in the bolt pattern for the trailer and a 14" version. im all about style though. some think its lame that i want everything to be matching and theme'd together.

If you are worried about the ramp, use a beach cart for launching. @ScottS and @Tkmww and I use beach totes that come apart and store on the tongue of the trailer.

We also use the Triton aluminum trailers. If you can find an older Elite model, they are the best as the tongue and axle position is fully adjustable. I have the LT and it's really long. Scott was able to shorten his elite almost 3ft and shift the axle so there's no more tongue weight on his Acura than absolutely necessary.

nice hadn't even though about bringing the beach cart on it.

usually when i go to events i bring the truck because of camping gear and the big trailer that i can fit 6 skis on. im looking to build a little 2 placer for the bob and q8. so its quick and easy and looks sweet behind the car.

something setup like this but for stand ups. narrower and single axle. but so sexy lol. i feel like we have insanely high end machines but most of us have settled for really lame trailers....

Waaaay back around 1990 I pulled a js 300 on a trailer with a 1985 toyota mr2 with a manual 5 speed. It worked but endid up screwing my syncronizer for 5th gear. I had to hold my hand on the shift knob to keep it from popping out of gear after that. It was a pita. Just a heads up. Those transmissions aren't designed for towing.

Breaks my heart that @moto x just sold that g8 =( We use my 2000 bonneville SSEi ghetto cruiser as the tow rig all the time (3.8L supercharged, definately no sports car IMO). You can barely feel the skis back there. Just need to add a trans cooler for peace of mind. Gets 32mpg at 60 and around 24mpg at 75 Planning on upgrading to an 05+ Subaru Legacy GT wagon (2.5T) soon. Corey used to have an 11 sec GTP that he towed with also. Won races while towing a ski lol

Those shadow trailers cost as much as a sports car. They are nice but way overkill for our little skis.

I love my Tritons...and you can tell because i have tons of pics and love posting them. :)
Mine has 750lb leaf springs so it rights incredibly smooth. ScottS's has torsion axles and rides considerably rougher since the axle rating is 1700lbs.

I was going to buy a car for towing so I built mine as light as possible and as durable as possible. No wooden bunks or carpet for me ever again.

my big trailer is a yacht club with 1200 lb springs. but it does quite well with 2 stand ups. ut it is currently being converted. flat bed, adding 6' in length and a second axle. switching to 750lb springs per axle and making bunks for 6 stand ups. but now i nee something for just the stunt hulls since that trailer will be overkill lol. i have a single trailer width axle. 4x100 bolt pattern, 500 lb springs. and just 2 stand ups and fuel. hoping it goes well.

Sorry, but I think the majority of us jet ski for the jet skiing, not to try to pick up chicks at the ramp with the trailer.
If I had money to burn, aside from making sure the trailer was road worthy and safe, that money would go into my ski.
Anyways, though, use to tow a couple seadoo XPs with a V8 Thunderbird, and it did well. People have asked why I don't use my 944, but with the rear valence, I can't put a hitch on, and with no limited slip and summer/sport tires, I'd never get up any ramp...

i miss my 944 and my 928, 328 has a welded diff an wide tires. smoke em till i get traction ;)

and lol. no need to pick up chicks just want it all to look good. i know im weird
