I miss my MR2s. I had a 93 NA and a 93 Turbo.

Towed with both of these did just fine. Both cammed and both got over 20mpg while towing. But now there both gone.

I towed for years with my xB Scion 2 skis on single trailer and all the gas and gear no issues. I would however take the 10 gallons of gas off the trailer when pulling skis out just to make it easier on the car.

Waaaay back around 1990 I pulled a js 300 on a trailer with a 1985 toyota mr2 with a manual 5 speed. It worked but endid up screwing my syncronizer for 5th gear. I had to hold my hand on the shift knob to keep it from popping out of gear after that. It was a pita. Just a heads up. Those transmissions aren't designed for towing.

That was more likely a bad, worn shift fork. Seen it many times, and it is usually caused by people holding their hand on the shift lever whilst in gear.

I have used my 91 mazda 626 all wheel steering to tow larger cars. I was 23 and stupid, but I towed a mx6 from vermont and going down the mountain was scary. I was fully prepared to bail from the vehicle if I lost brakes. But she worked like a champ. Never trust an auto trans. All my cars have been five speeds. I chose the right time to drive the roads so i could stop completely at the tops of the hills.
