Here are some pics. The upper fresh out of the mold before trimming. The lower is bagged and going through its cure, I'll pop it today. I'll update as I make progress. This ski can be seen at Datona complete to view only, this is a customers hull. More to come.

Man that is light!!!
It turns out the x-2 upper is almost the exact same area as the sxr. The weight of all the Evo Pro uppers have come out 27lbs + - a pound. When you first look at the x-2 the size is deceiving, at least to me, until I saw the material amount and weight it is to close to call comparing the two

DJ,

I have had three sxrs, and there is something special about a stand up. But, I have a new X2, and it is without a doubt, the most fun I have had on a ski. And if you are into freestyle and wavejumping, you should give some thought to the x2. Just a suggestion.

As my main ski? hmmmmmmm...I don't know...maybe in a year or two as a 2nd ski.

I believe this lightweight setup will be cheaper or the same price as buying a stock X2....plus it'll probably be about 60-70 pounds lighter for the cheaper version.

Used SXR $3000
Trinity 'build it yourself' cheaper kit $3500-4k (guesstimate???)
Steering hardware $1000 (guesstimate???)
Total: About 8 grand for a lightweight new X2!!!

Aren't the X2's going for about $9000 used? This will probably be cheaper and you get all the weight savings....you just have to do some work!:headbang:

they used to cost $9500 new but that was without freight, customs or registration. when all is said and done they are at least in the mid 11 grand range, but most people think that 9500 is the price you pay.
as for the epic pro, the metal run for the parts that are being produced to make the top deck work are $900 a set and you still nedd to buy the upper steering and the seat from kawi,(900zxi and kx100 parts respectivley). the only thing that has not been priced out is the actual bolts and nuts that will be needed but i cant imagine that being more than $30. oh and ur still missing an engine, ebox, pump and other goodies.

Not if you buy a used SXR for $3500...I still think it will be cheaper to go the Trinity route & you'll be a hell of a lot lighter!

Can you just buy the Trinity upper and use your SXR lower?
