I wonder how much weather is playing a roll in all this?
Most viruses are heat sensitive so it makes sense that northern places, still in the throws of winter and cooler temps, are getting hit harder.
Us Southern folk may be getting some assistance to our resistance.

Our area never hit anything close to the crazy numbers we were told would come to fruition. Number of cases, number of hospitalizations, number of deaths... none of it.
So now our hospitals are in bad shape because all elective surgeries were banned, and they are laying off hospital workers, including nurses.
I guess overreacting, creating fear and panic, hoarding, and general idiocracy is the new normal they keep talking about. It all makes sense, if ya don't think about it.
Edit: BTW, Sweden has pretty much the same mortality rate as the US (10m people ~2k deaths vs 330m people with 55k deaths).... no lockdown, no shelter in place, no panic, no hoarding, no f'd up economy, no closed schools. Their plan, the virus is not going away so they are developing herd immunity.

Im going to have to dissagre. I was furloughed right around the same time and have been getting the extra 600 for 3 weeks now. Plus mn regular unemployment pay is better then most states to begin with....and its a pretty blue state

Dr. Erickson has certainly run into the buzzsaw of current dogma. So have the Swedes, who as an entire nation have taken the same approach advocated by Dr. Erickson:
"The Swedes brokered a different deal than the rest of the world: Citizens take individual responsibility for social distancing, and the government keeps most of society functioning. There are some rules—high schools and universities are closed, gatherings of more than 50 people are banned, and people over 70 and those who feel ill are encouraged to stay home. But businesses largely remain open, and children who would otherwise need care are in school."
