If Jeff's complete 1200cc top end is $4,000 (I have no idea if that's correct) then it is actually priced quite reasonably. Here's what a typical Lamey top end might cost:

$1,800 unported cylinder
$300 cylinder porting
$600 exhaust valves + machine work for them (maybe more if pipe is counted)
$300 piston kit (maybe more for flat tops)
$400 girdle head

So that's $3,400 or only 15% less than Jeff's top end, and Jeff's will put out at least 30-40% more power than a nicely built Lamey, not to mention it's machined from billet whereas a Lamey is a cheap sand casting.

I'm not sure what Jeff is charging for pipes but I gave him a grand for mine. I hope he made a fat profit off that, a grand for all the development Jeff has done is an absolute bargain IMO (if it works, of course, which it looks like it does).

I'd think that 49mm carbs should be enough, some people are running a single 49 on built 701 engines. Even just dual 46 SBN's will feed up to 180hp.

In my analysis I came up with 11K for this motor complete,

If mile9c1 has 4K invested in a WaterDawg 1200cc top end and Lakeman figures he has 11K for the WaterDawg motor complete, what happened to the remaining 7K?!?:sneaky::shrug:

:Flush: :18:

It's a conversion bed plate, a pipe & manifold, and an intake manifold.

 :haha:

Man, why is it that I get the distinct premonition that somebody is getting ready to machine a billet 1500cc twin cylinder.

lol

I'm really surprised nitorshark hasn't already cut a few of them at this point, as I'm quite sure he can make pistons for it, as well.

BTW let's get those prices right! According to Racer's edge, retail on the NP cylinder is $1500 +$400 for porting (Lenzi specs). I know that the pv cylinder is a bit more (maybe $200 max) but not much and includes the PV's (+ misc SD parts) .Kawi flat tops are $105 retail each
Their turnaround is only about a week or so!! Now that's outstanding service and bussiness:biggthumpup:
Still about $1900 less!!!:cool2: that means you can get that 8mm stroker crank for $1350 new and still be under. :Banane09: :Banane09:

I'm just posting what has been posted in the past. I don't know if Lamey's valves are cheaper than Seadoo valves (I'd guess not), but just buying all the exhaust valve parts for a Seadoo costs at least $500 per engine (look at the prices on Riva.com). This wouldn't include the cost to machine out the valve area (which is probably the $200 you are referring to).

They charge over $500 to covert a GP800 to gas valves.

Saying $200 for Lamey valves has me ROFLMAO

The valves themselves are made by recer's edge, but the rest of the parts (housing, bellows, springs) are oem SD parts that may cost you a total of $150 or so.
The gas valves you see at riva includes special billed housing's and are sold as a complete kit (and probably overpriced too!)

I really hope that these big motors (the Rev 12 and malone's 1000) will be availlable to put in any hull .the same as Lamey as done for the whole sport.

If you look at the OEM parts finder on Riva, for OEM Seadoo exhaust valve parts it's about $250 per cylinder for all the parts and only $80 or so of that is the valve itself. I gotta imagine a Racer's Edge valve is more than a Seadoo valve.

Either way, it's not much of a difference on a $20,000+ ski :Banane01:

I don't usually chime in on the threads that bash people or companies, but I can't stop myself on this one.....I called jeff @ waterdawg today to get some advice on my winter project and he's a standup guy...smart, friendly, and willing to help me...I think the one's on this thread that are hellbent on bashing jeff for his production speed or ethics or whatever kind of BS you people come up with, should learn to fabricate some things on their own and maybe you would find that more respect is given to you by smart people like jeff that took the time to learn how to build a motor or work fiberglass or paint..He had plenty of respect for me and my project because I knew some of what I was talking to him about and didn't just whine to him to do it all for me.....and to all that attempted to keep business away from waterdawg,,,,
I'm gonna spend money with him....so say what you will because it won't hurt my stupid feelings one bit.....

just dont come crying to us when you send your money and dont see all your parts....of course he is cool until he gets your money, that is all he wants. In havasu he seemed like a slimy car sales man. he had so many different stories on why the ski couldnt be tested.
