Trim doesn't build confidence. It allows unconfident people to flip. Remove the trim and force yourself to flip without trim... Then you'll gain confidence in yourself. Body movement and wave timing is more effective than a trim lever. Trim just causes you to blow out the backside of the wave and decreases your height anyways which = ghey
More speed = more height = more fun
This is a good thread!
Finally riders talking about riding. Not a pissing match between keyboard cowboys

Yea Andrew used to talk about a lot of things....

I enjoy the front foothold more than a front foot strap. Moving your front foot and placing pressure on the left of right of your tray is the difference of sliding flat or sliding out backwards or forwards. Plus it lets you style out re entry's I've learned. I was hitting them with my front foot in the top left corner with my foot almost straight ( where my foot generally is). Now I'm hitting them with my foot more in the center and with just the outside of my foot in the ffh. Toe pointing towards the side of my tray and I'm figuring out how to lay the boat sideways like joe and Taylor. Sooo Steezy.

I get what @speedysprocket is saying. If it's very very very small than you need it.

But, when I see guys in chest to head high surf.... It's now a crutch.... Jamie is spot on.

People in my experience who use trim usually don't know how to flip at all. No wave timing. No speed gauge. No knowledge on body movements on how to speed up and slow down rotation. They just know how to pull a lever.

A kid at grayland was ready to learn to flip. He said should I use trim? I said well, that lever will get you upside down so you can get over that mental hurdle but your not LEARNING how to do anything by pulling it.

There is nothing more I can't stand to see... than a trim flip in un necessary conditions.

I understand and agree also but a wave that small in surf means you're in 2' of water depth... At least on the East coast. On those days I just surf ride. Not worth the risk. Gotta make it to work the next day

And when surf is that small and it's shallow, trim makes sure I have enough rotation so I don't stuff the nose in the sand, but I can slow it down with my body if needed so I don't over rotate and land on the nozzle. I think it's kinda fun to flat land a backie on the sand once in a while!

Spot on. I hate when people can't get a ski ten foot out the water cause they are stuck on trim. Just stop using it and soar that sumbitch!!! My favorite is watching people's backs and heads hit the wave when they are taking off hahaha

It's like.... If your going to under rotate.... Wouldn't you want it to be from 20' so you come down in a blaze of glory!? Hahaha that's the best and I'm always yelling at the top of my lungs.

SEND IT ALWAYS

You have to let off to pull trim??? hmm odd i have hear this before but i never let off the throttle to pull trim.
maybe thats because your motor doesnt have enought power to create more thrust than your lever can pull. if you can get the nozzle to tilt under full power, you aint got much power to begin with.thats also why a lot of guys go thru/break cables all the time. the easy pull pulley system does make it easier to pull but you get less throw. i only use trim to make my setup wake.if you need trim to flip, you aint got enough motor.
