Wdk Rip Rebuild. New to me

Nice long talk with wanderer1, good to hear from someone who has run the 927 and this pipe. He gave me a great starting point for tuning the pipe.

I have pressed the midshaft in as far as I can and am still 3-4mm away from being able to install any bolts into the motor mounts... wondering if I have the wrong midshaft. No markings on it of any kind, will have to measure and see. Is this how all of these builds go? Or just mine?

That's the same midshaft that was in the ski when I bought it. What couplers are you using? Can you use a shim on the crank side and one on the shaft side to close the gap?

See if you can loosen motor mounts and slide them back at all. Then you will need to think about egging out the holes in motor mounts some to move back and/or in bedplates to slide back.

I sent that one and one I had to JM to have rebuilt. They were the same number on them. I believe he rebuilt the other one I sent in and gave me a core credit for the other.
I dont have a gap, I just cant get ththe engine back far enough.

There is a post here on this site that says the gp800 May have a slightly longer midshaft, 5mm or so longer. Wondering if that's what I got.

Looked back in your previous pics and see what you mean. Are the threads bottoming out in the coupler, or vice versa? Could you machine a little off the end?

I'm pretty sure the shaft that was in mine was from a 1100.

Threads are bottoming out, but the driveshaft is still 1/2" away from end of mid shaft. I may just have to machine that, and then the coupler as well.

Seems pretty normal to me. As a side note I finally got the ss nuts I ordered off ebay for the steering... apparently they came from HongKong, I should read the listing better. Had no idea it would take a month to get 4 nuts.

When I bought my midshaft it had the longer coupler like the one in the picture. Both ebay listings claim they are from the same ski...
Maybe I need the shorter version? Guess I'll order it up and see.

Try the shaft I gave you with the rebuilt carrier.

I used OEM yamaha couplers. The bedplate bolts sat dead center on the motor mount bolt holes.

I traded it to jet manic. I sent both in and he rebuilt one anand gave me credit for the other. They both had the same marking on it. Like 63m . I wish I had it to try!!!!

That is pushing the motor further away from the mounts. It needs to come back towards the bulkhead.
I'm ordering another midshaft
Take off the engine side coupler and remove any washers on that one? Also is the coupler threaded as far as it can go onto the engine side?

Figured out the issue with the midshaft.
It was an issue with the couple on the engine.
There was a few messed up threads almost at the bottom. About 3/16" from bottoming out. Cleaned it up with an impact setup on a core crank.

You may notice the red line comingfrom the head to a pisser. Who sells other color water lines?
