Well I took it out yesterday for the first time.
Rode it for several tanks of gas (2 gallon tank) .
The ski runs really well. I need a better prop, and to install the top loader intake, I am running it open right now.

The power of the 927 is unreal. I have never ridden a bigger cc motor.
Previous biggest motor was a low 800cc that had all the bolts on, and was a "arm ripper"

This wdk 927 is a whole different animal. When I was talking to Jeff curry prior to purchasing the motor he told me he had one with some special porting done to it. It was intended to be his demo boat motor. I bought that motor.
It loads up some in the 5mph zone, which is very long. But it clears out quickly and the just rips.

I'm sure total loss, more aggressive ignition, bigger carbs and the better prop would do more to this ski but where my skill level is I know it would be lost on me.

The ski wants to ride very nose high, and me being a fatty does not help with that. Once in planes out it is easier to ride, but this is obviously not meant to be a lake cruiser, more of a one trick pony. Which is fine.

I figure after 15 or 20 days of riding it will be much more comfortable and possibly even able to do some tricks.

I pulled the tank out, the motor and went over everything.
Had an exhaust hose clamp loosen up, the trim adjuster was also loose. 2 bolts on the bottom on the engine poked into the glass at the bottom of the hull.
I took a flapper disc and ground off about 1/2 the thickness of the bolt heads, I then glassed the gouges left behind.

Pulled my pump to check the prop...
This can't be a good 7/14 for freestyle can it?
It isnt a e 75, or swirl, but is it still decent?
The clearance is about 12 thousandths.

I am running a Magnum D-75 cutback 7/14 swirl in my RIP and I am running a PHP 780... I think mine can still tighten up a little more... I would have to say that the 7/14 may be too small for you...

So I am now making a mold of my rideplate. I have vacuum bagged it and am waiting for it to fully cure. I will then pop out 2 ridplates and cut them up and bond to make a longer version. Then mold that and make a new longer rideplate for my ski, maybe 5 inches longer and able to cut it down.
I hope makes the front come down a little bit.

I made the rideplate about 3" longer. Huge difference in how it rides.
I bought new rrp tubes from JM and installed them over the weekend.

Today I worked from 630am to 6 PM , was over 100* good part of the day. Got home and decided it was a good time to go riding.

The poles are waaaayyyyy 2 long. I cut 4" off them from stock length, Thinking another 3" and test again.
The ski just sinks in the rear, too much weight over the back. Heck I may be too fat to even ride this ski.
I'll chop the poles the said 3" and see how it goes.
I really do like the longer bars when I am up riding. But it is just next to impossible to get up. May be due to being tired and beat from the heat.

Any thoughts or tips how to ride this thing?

There should be about 2” between the top and bottom pole ends. I forget the exact tube length. They are a flat water hulls and are designed to ride nose high with really short poles. It’s actually a comfortable ride with the big heel wedges Jeff installs given the pole is at proper length.

If I remember correctly, my pole from pivot to pivot was like 26-27 inches.

What is your height and weight? I am 6’ 3” 195lbs and get around pretty well on my rip.

Pole should be hella short.

I'm 5'10" and the fattest i have ever been 240.

But I wear it well. LoL.

I only rode it for 20 minutes last night due to the 2 issues I had.
1- my kill switch lanyard clip broke after the first fall, so i had to improvise with the loop on the lanyard to hold the kill switch.

2- I have a bad battery connection possibly in the ebox. It does not want to crank over every time I hit the button - even when i pull the kill switch up.

I had really shortened my bars but I was not comfortable riding the ski that way. So I bought longer bars hoping it would help me feel more comfortable.

What are you trying to do with the ski? Are you trying to cruise and go fast or are you trying to do flatwater tricks?

You have to ride the ski with your weight forward. You need to keep your knees bent and your weight in your toes. if you are trying to ride with your weight in your heels, it is going to ride like crap and bounce all over. Personally, I can cruise at 25-30mph to chase a boat wake down but anything much over that and I get dumped off the side of the ski.

I am trying to freeride it. I know it's not going to be a lake cruiser. I can do about 25 as well any faster it pitches me off the left side. Always the left.

That looks about how I feel when I ride it. What is your pole length? From steering pin to hull bracket pin?

The motor has so much friggin power, I know my prop is all wrong for it too. I need to pony up and buy a real prop. Fortunately my lady is in negotiations to buy a business. So all our money is tied up at the moment, plus we are still working feverishly to pay down debt.

More time on it. Got it. Will do. Need to shorten my pole more then try again.

Mine dumps me off the left as well... @Roseand does yours do the same? Andrew has much more time in the tray of his RIP than I have in mine.

I will measure my pole from pivot to pivot tonight and let you know

I went to start it up tonight.... and click.

Damnit... battery is good, connectors are tight.. coming from the ebox.

Right behind the motor. 1/4" from the motor. So the motor has to come out to get the e box. Lucky me.

I have to pull my flame arrest or adapters off my carbs or when I had the b pipe, pull the head pipe and I can slide it out.

I rerouted my cables and wiring so it all comes out easier if need be.
