Amsoil boasts that it can be run 100:1 ratio. I've never tried it, but if they tested it and it worked that way, it must be some pretty good stuff. Amsoil, Klotz, or Maxima is the only stuff I'll use, outside of an emergency.

That is only the 100:1 amsoil, not all amsoil.

It looks like Castor 927 is the most popular
so
I think I will go with that
THANKS EVERYBODY :)

but
Shonuff
40:1 Big bore sx-r
I cant find that anywhere
I thought that stuff in your garage looked more like Klotz R-50

he was just posting he uses 45:1 ratio in his big bore SXR engine he never said the type of oil he uses

Castor based oils

Maxima 927 is a great oil.. (but not my favorite).. Be careful with castor based oils,as many don't have a "suspensory" additive blended into the oil. This allows the oil to seperate and settle at the bottom of your can or fuel tank.. This seperation will happen even quicker in cold temperatures.. Some race fuels can also have this effect on different oils.. There are tons of great lubricants, but my two favorites are Dumonde tech Z-1 for lower compression ratios, and Klotz R-50 for anything with a big stroke or high compression ratio..

P.S. You are not doing your engine any favors at 40-1 or 50-1... The harder you ride, the more lubrication you need.. The factory reccomemndation of 50-1 is for EPA, etc.

Thaks,
Randy

actually amsoil 100:1 mixed at 50 is fine. that stuff is hard to break down.

so what ratio do you suggest?

Mixing ratio

32-1 is ideal... The harder your engine works, the more lubrication you need.. if your grandfather is running his trolling motor, then 50-1 is fine.. If you and your buddy decide to enter the same trolling motor in the Long beach to Catalina race you will need a better ratio (32-1)..Good lubrication allows your engine to last longer and cool correctly. (googe film strength & migration time). Poor quality oil merely means it's gonna cost you more sooner as the bearings will fail.

I dont mean to offend anyone, but no oil works correctly at 50-1, as it cannot form an adequete seal between the piston and cylinder wall that allows excess heat to transfer from the piston crown to the cylinder casting.

Excess oil will not cause a sparkplug to foul if your jetting is correct..Excess oil will recude the octane level, but only a miniscule amount.

Sorry for the long post.

Just because that is what alot of people use don't mean it is what YOUR ski needs expensive oil like 927. If you are running a basically stock ski than any TCW-3 oil will be fine like Penzoil premium blend or Quicksilver outboard oil.

I have heard to use quicksilver mineral premium with a 32:1 ratio is that a good oil ? I have been using yamalube but the price went up so crazy....and I really want a good oilf for my engine.

Well I just figured everybody on X-H20 would know better then I would what was better to use then what I was using because I just changed my head ( I believe this will change my compression from 155 to 185 ) and I switched from 1 carb to 2 carbs and bought a lightened flywheel which is sopposed to speed things up a bit
so I thought I would take care of my ski by running a better oil mix then what I was using before (check this out)
I was using Briggs & Stratton 2-cycle oil easy-mix
you can find it at Wal-Mart in the lawnmower/weed-whacker section
its like $1.50 to mix up 3 Gallons at a 50:1 (and it already has Fuel-Stabilizer in it)
and is like 1/2 the price of anything else I have seen on the market which doesn't mean its bad but its probably not the best
but
It has worked all last summer just fine ( I have ridden and hard as it would go)
but it smells NASTY and I don't think it is the right thing to be using in my Jet Ski anymore.
