I didn't catch the award presentation to the Jr Lifeguards. What was the donation value and the ski count that attended?

Thanks

I asked one of the lifeguards on Saturday how many skis were present, and he indicated that many riders did not register, so it was near impossible to tell.

What, that's BS the whole point of going was for charity. I have been telling everyone how big it was going to be this year and some people didn't pay? BS, total BS!!!

yeah whats up with that? I got my pinks...I leave my stickers on as a merit badge- my skis have been to daytona this many times- like a race skis pedigree.

maybe next year we can help police each other out there?

Nick why don't they check you at the ramp going to the beach?

I find that more and more people are using the event for there own benefit, yet not contributing to the cause... That's life though and it will be my job to make sure the spongers pay or get the ******** out.

Big changes in registration next year... Actually, big changes all around to hopefully make it better next year.

I really hate these ass********s who come and give nothing, don't register their skis and steal banners... I will come up w/ a way to make it very difficult for these POS...

Set up registration at the beach entrance, that may help.

That only helps for the people who use the beach entrance. My ski came off the wall.

I think two things would help...

1) A person walking arround checking for compliance
2) Signs stating that registration is required. I only knew because someone said something to me about it. If noone said anything to me, and I just showed up on the beach, I wouldn't have known to buy one. There are no signs. No information on a mile+ stretch of beach except the registration booth infront of the Makai. I said something to one of my local friends and their response was "You had to pay to ride in the ocean?!?!?!" We both know that guy wouldn't have bought one.

Personally, I don't the $25 for lifeguards with a rescue boat is a bad deal. I'm sure most didn't know.

On a similar topic, I must add, the lifeguards had themselves WAY WAY understaffed, underresourced on saturday. There should have been more guards, and another rescue boat positioned at another location on the beach. We probably generated 1/4 to 1/2 of their revenue for the year in a weekend. They could handle some overtime for 2 days.

exactly!!!!

funny thing I had a long conversation w/ Beach Patrol about those very issues... Next year will be way more organized on the beach and overall more organized... It's tough to adapt to this type of growth... We are just growing so fast!!!

Beach Patrol even apologized for not having more people and having a better setup. Like I said above, this event is growing so fast that it's tough to keep up.

We had beach patrol stop by each morning to check for registration on the skis, apparently this was not enough.

$25 bucks for guards all weekend = bargain, and a good cause.

Nick,

Make the registration something other than a sticker that removed paint off your ski...

I didn't put the stickers on and the beach patrol said that was fine, as long as I could produce the pinks...

At that rate it will be an invite only freeride in a matter of years. Then you wont need to worry about losers showing up.:loser:
