What's your view look like today?

I told my wife this morning that I was going to build a small fire pit in the back yard just so I could cook up a country style breakfast once in awhile. I grew up hunting and we used to spend weeks out in the bush on horseback and the camp breakfasts cooked on an open fire were the best part.

I still do that. My Dutch over and cast iron cooking pans will always be my favorite.

It was rough, I literally did not train at all. It was a rough 13 miles. I'm excited to do it again next year though, it was a blast.

That might be the same lathe my buddy has, his may be a little newer model and it has a digital read out.

Question for our experts @Scraggly and @OCD Solutions etc

What is the best caliper that reads to .0000 under 100$ that you would recommend? Consistency being the most important function. I need something that will read exactly the same for 100+ uses in an hour. Also if you have any tips on getting the most consistent/accurate reading on my current 20$ calipers.

And mitatoyo hands down. Find and older set if you can the newer ones and made a lot cheaper.

We use these ones in our shop. Just over 100 on this site but I'll bet you can get them cheaper with a quick Google search. They seem to work good enough to make class two implantable devices like bone screws in an FDA regulated shop

Digital has a higher chance of error. Hard to f@#k up a line etched in steel.

@Scraggly would probably have better advice with vernier. He has been I the industry a lot longer than me and probably used vernier a lot years ago. I avoid it at all costs. We have a depth mic with vernier that we use but other than that I'm a believer in the digital age.

Very nice set and surprised the cost.
Digital is fine if you use quality tools. Frequent calibrations and offer not needed. And you have nothing to worry about.

Use a scribe and height gage. Do it right man
