Came home today and realized that I was tired of looking at these slabs sitting in my driveway.
My parents' neighbor who is a contractor was getting rid of them so, being the resident hoarder, I gave them a new home.
A while back, I got similarly fed up with the scraggly rose bush and other nonsense left by the previous owner, so I ran over them while mowing. (Bobcat walk behind ate them down to the dirt like a champ)
Afterwards, I was left with this gross patch that I tried to let the yard reclaim.
It true redneck fashion, the bare spot was quickly converted to a burn pile. (Dad helped)
Decided to jump right in and throw something together as any more planning would likely delay progress for another 6 months. No substrate, screeding or even a proper tamper. Close enough for government work is how I roll a lot of the time.
Good news, it works! After all the loose soil settles in, I may go back and do things a little more properly, but I'll really only use it a few times a year when I get to trimming/pruning. I've got a chimney on the deck for hanging out around.
The yard is cleaned up and the Mrs. is happy. Time for the reward! (Completely healthy)
