I would say our lawn care efforts are paying off!
$485 for 15 yards of topsoil, $150/month for water and whatever goody bag the Scotts app tells us to spread on it.
Our neighbors are all waiting for the builder to come back and fix their lawns, and it shows!

We've had a few people stop by and ask what we did but so far, none are willing to put in the effort, or feel they shouldn't have to go out of pocket and do anything. To each their own I guess, at the end of the day, it's our house, our lawn and ultimately, our responsibility.

Our little buddy Husky is doing his part as well!

I used to install yards for a big corporate builder. Each yard got 5 pallets of sod, 2 dogwood trees, 5 holly bushes or nandinas and a flat of monkey grass. We got 1500 per yard to prep it, plant it and lay the sod. We had it down to 500 bucks in materials and made 500 each for prep and install. No one ever watered the sod or trees everything would die and they wanted me to come fix it. Have to take some responsibility for nurturing the stuff so it can grow. Lookin good OCD!

The only repair we requested was a slight change of grade down one side as it wasn't draining. I consider this to be pretty normal and they had no issue fixing it.

My only complaint on the yard is how poor of prep and install they do. Sod laid on top of rocks, ruts and holes looks like chit. These guys skimmed it with a bobcat and tossed some sod over it. It looks fine from 50ft but you are guaranteed to roll an ankle at least once every time you walk across it or try to mow it.

I chose to hand place the topsoil so I could feel all the holes and hand pack and smooth it in. Ours is still not perfect but at least it's flat now and was well worth the 16 hours we put into it.

I pulled off a miracle today and completed what was deemed a high risk and nearly impossible cable pull!

I was willing to gamble $10k worth of a special “compact” 5KV cable I sourced to attempt the pull because if it didn’t work, I was looking at excavating our main incoming road and installing 485ft of new 4” duct. Plan B, C and D were $68K, $74K and $96K respectively.

I asked for a 10hr power outage and we were done in 4 hours.

We are already $1.2M over budget on this project so we really needed the win. Management wanted to commit to one of the zero risk but way more expensive options but I convinced them to let me attempt the pull.

Oh, and I upgraded Turtle Island cams to 4K for some HD cuteness.
