I wanted to try sand on the lake bottom, and something to help traction on the steps. I nailed down (2) 10x12 area rugs to the lake bottom and covered it with 1900 pounds of clean play sand… and glued and SS stapled commercial ribbed door mate on the steps.. so much better.. even my 95 year old made it down no problem.. water levels at the top step now…

I hope the new one is as dependable as the 07 was to me. 185k on it. Brakes. Rear wheel bearings and a radiator were the only replacement parts needed!
Man did I ever get hosed lol.
Rear differential rebuild $3500.00
Replacement driveshaft from a wrecked truck $650.00
Replacement front differential from a wrecked truck $450.00
Replaced all shocks $500
3 water pumps at $150 each
Severe box rot all up the seam on the outer edge of the floor sheet still on going
3 sets of wheel speed sensors at $70 each wheel
2 partially stuck brake calipers warping rotors every 3 months until now when I finally got my new calipers in $460 for the set
Both rear wheel bearing spindles $460 plus 2 full days of fighting with changing them out on my time...worst design ever mind you
Mine is an 09 and when I bought it at 5 years old it needed all of this then. I've since done the rinse and repeat for many of these smaller parts a good few times. I still much rather have it over anything else but I definitely got the lemon of 09 lol. Now it's a pretty sturdy ride other that the box rot problem but Toyota won't do anything about it, or anything else that is their mistakes...so I get to eat the bill on all of it. If this was a solid rig right away I would have nothing but good reviews, unfortunately I can't give them that, all I can give is...at least it's not a f**d lol...worst 4-letter f-word in the out there from my experience lol :p

The newest Tacoma I’ve owned was a 2014 4x4. Had it for 3 years and it didn’t give me a bit of trouble. I bought a 2002 Prerunner new and had it for 10 years, not a bit of trouble. Through the years I’ve owned about 20 Toyota trucks and they were all great. But these newer trucks with all the computerized systems and over complicated drivetrains, dependability is not the best.

It’s the season for babies and we got our first batch of ducklings in our pond this morning.

Earlier in the week we saw out first yearling turtle show up on the platform. The camera makes him look big but he’s not much bigger than a silver dollar.
