Im a MN freerider who is looking to upgrade from my stock SJ hull. I need a surf durable hull that can rec. ride. Right now my price range is looking at the BOB and a WCF hull. Any info is helpful thanks.

Our new Vision hull is designed to be an all around boat. check out or thread in the custom/hybrid section

A pro-built modded motor is plenty reliable. Home-built, not so much.

I hate to say it, but you can't really expect to flip off single wakes (or even doubles) with a waterlogged hull, a near stock motor, and no trim. You need to buck up for a better motor or a lighter hull. Neither is cheap. You'll have to decide what it's worth to you.
You could start by defoaming your stock hull, cutting it a couple inches shorter, getting trim, and maybe getting your motor ported.

^^^^ do this....

Really what we are all saying is that it all depends on what u have to spend. All the things you say you are wanting to do are possible with a sj hull, nearly stock 701... thats a different story. But with all the advances in hull tech now you can run a limited mod motor and do everything you want. But in the end as others have stated there is nothing like alot of practice....

What you should really do is take a look at your $ situation and do some R@D. The more you learn about what is avaliable the better off you will be.

Lighten your hull (Get the water out - take matt's advice, cut the rear)

Get a reputable builder to set you up with a good ported cylinder (not even big bore). With the right combo you can get a great setup without spending 5K on a motor. It is more than just the motor. One of the stronges hitting SJ's I have ever ridden was a Wamilton ported 61x motor with the OEM 38's. Wamilton set up the entire ski. Hit like a freaking hammer.

And the most important thing, forget about doing just back flips. Get out there an master riding. If you have a good setup, and you have mastered handling, propper throttle control, learning to read the wakes, great feel for your ski, then you will start pulling off some of these tricks.

I ride with the OP and am in the same situation. I was leaning towards a superjet based after market hull., but it sounds like it may not be worth the minimal weight savings. Now I'm leaning towards re foaming and cutting. I have a ported 701 with a Bpipe now. What would be the next step motor wise if you had 2 -3k to spend?

I'd get Jetworks to build me a big bore from what you have.
That's what I have and I couldn't be happier.
2-3k will buy you a nice motor upgrade. It will not buy you a nice hull.

I forget the naming convention but the vid of the new rickter hull with a bone stock motor (stock exhaust and pump too) was pretty damned impressive.

found it here you go....

Impressive, yes.
Cheap, no. 8k min, engine not included.

Besides, it's unlikely that the average joe will pull that off with a stock engine.

X2 I went with Xmetal but Art @ Jetworks is just as good as well, Something people should keep in mind on that subject is just because people on the fourms that use Xmetal are "louder" doesnt make them better, Art makes great stuff as well, I would go with a motor set-up once you have got everything inside the ski dialed in then get a new hull IMO

SO FAR CHANGE SUCKS!!!!!!
man their are tons of BB options. dont just get set on one. your bout to drop mad coin. id call and talk personally with all of them. if they dont have time to do that, then u think they will answer when they actually have your motor. I personally went with a Thrust BB and that :):):):) rips. explore your options and whatever one works best for ya do it.

Matt_E's got the right idea for sure. He steered me right with the hull shortening. Refoam and shorten the hull. Matt_E has a build thread on his hull shortening and I have one going as well. And there's other members that have done hull shortening in build threads too. Lots of good reading and pics. As far as reliable bang for the buck in the brapp department, I want to try a Jetmaniac / Blue 781.
