A cranked out re-entry like TC does gets all my respect.

That said, I think you could say most would agree from a "skill" standpoint re-entries probably get more respect, and huge backies get respect from a "balls" standpoint...

It's impressive to watch anything done with lots of air and with precision. If you see someone doing that they have done their time eating it big time to get to that level. That is just great entertainment to see someone eject during a big bf. A re-entry is as common as a back flip unless it is landed on the face of the wave while linking manuv's together.

I'm 41 and finally pulled and landed my first backflips last fall... (4 really nice ones by the way). Anyway, now that I have finally done that, I've realized they are much easier than I thought... just had to nut up to do them.

Having said that, I'd prefer to watch a rider with sick surf style than an average rider who can back flip but doesn't have good surf riding abilities. Not to say that I don't repect that, but when you watch a rider who can really ride surf, and still do BF's etc, they are smooth and fluid... one with their ski and surf. While others seem more choppy, or seem to hack their way to the next wave just to back flip or roll.

just my opinion though...

for some reason that is the trick people get stuck on. you go to any local ride and you'll see countless stabs. I'm tired of them. I think some people settle into them and never progress. if you can stab a wave you can roll it. I think a stab is a crutch.

I've never attempted a single stab in my life because I didn't want the easy out when learning to roll.

all that said, some guys like matt smith can pull off a nice stylish stab.

Heh, I only pulled a handful of good stabs in my life. After a short while I started over-rotating them into weird front-heavy 3/4 rolls.
