AND HOW ABOUT THE THROTTLE IS A FLY-BY-WIRE ELECTRIC THROTTLE SYSTEM, AND ELECTRIC BRAKING/REVERSE SYSTEM JUST SOMETHING ELSE TO BREAK ON THEIR LONG LIST OF $HITTY PARTS.....I MEAN REALLY HOW MUCH ELECTRICAL PARTS DO YOU WANT ON A JET-SKI THAT GETS USED AND ABUSED ONLY ON THE WATER....WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE THAT ONLY HAVE SALTWATER....I CAN SEE THESE NEW SYSTEMS CAUSING TONS OF PROBLEMS AND HEADACHES FOR THEIR OWNERS

I agree its not getting better for the do it your self repair guy... But the fly by wire is really nice, My boat has had it since 2005 Mercury Verado's & never had a problem.... I'm sure Sea Doo has done a lot of testing, its going to last for the 12 month Warranty period...

New technology isn't always a bad thing.

Besides, I'm pretty sure Seadoo sales are doing just fine.

my acura runs a data bus up the chassis with hundreds of inputs
and is fly by wire
5 years, 191k miles, no issues

Anytime you have advancement in technology there is risk of things failing.

I'm sure there were people that thought their horse and buggy were just fine and those automobile things were just going to be trouble.

I can tell you one thing wrong.... I was just at the local ATV store, the price for a new ski(small boat there so big) is unreal...

Products are geared and driven by customer demand, you can't sell products that people don't want, if people were not pushing for this kind of stuff, they would not be building it, BRP engineers are far from stupid.

not saying they are stupid, it just make working on your own ski next to impossible.....have you seen the electric brake motors in person? I have....it is basically a car window motor that controls the reverse gate...... Also have you ridden the new is?.....you stab the throttle...delay...delay..delay... Then throttle opens up....seems like it would have been easier to just keep the cable, better and cheaper.....this is just another way for sea-doo to make money, selling you parts right after the factory warr. Expires

Move forward or get left behind...The bigger picture is money. Sell something that the average Joe finds useful. People love 'features' as much as thier mates do...

Yes I have seen the units all opened up and ridden them also. I will agree it looks nightmarish to work on, luckily I won't see one to work on for years down the road. Seadoos have always been built to sell parts so are Yamahas no new news here. :sadwavey:
