Other WTF is with the arrogance of builders and manufacturers of products for our sport

A service is also low quality if its benefit is not stated or measurement of not provided. Speed and weight are the only metric that everyone can easily verify. Everything else is subjective and thats where the prettiest face and best line of BS always win.

Yeah, read the for sale thread. I disclose everything I know as best I can remember. I believe it mentions the hastles involved in dealing with WDK does it not?
My point was that you are on a thread complaining about subpar parts being sold for good $$$ then practically bragged about doing just that to a customer.
We all sell used parts we wouldnt or dont want to use for whatever reason. But since you decided to stick your thoughts, opinions and nose in my business I figured I would give you a little dose on this open thread.
Find ONE person NOT happy with a deal they have had with ME then I guess you would be justified in negative postings involving me and voicing your opinion on how I SHOULD HANDLE MY BUSINESS.

You and I have HUGE Differences in opinion an MOST areas as best I can tell from looking at your personal skis and reading some of the BILLIONS of posts. The difference is that if it doesnt effect me I dont jump in and voice mine every thread your on. My guess is you have NO CLUE what I sell or how I sell it or even what the quality is except 2nd hand info you read on the net. You seem to have a beef with anyone assotiated with WDK in a positive way but prolly have NEVER purchased from him or had any personal dealings with him or his parts. But there you are every thread trying to increase your post count. IMO, your just as poor a business person on here bashing any chance you get instead of offering up solutions or ALTERNATIVES or anything usefull imo.

I wont win a battle of who bashes who more here with you bro so bash away, I dont have time for 9,000 posts personally. I guess all I can hope is people see you for the 8944 post of mostly worthless rambling and understand why your bashing someone that has been on here dealing with people since this sight started with NO COMPLAINTS from anyone who has dealt with me EVER that I am aware of.

PIECE OUT WFO.
Have fun.

The other thing to consider is that some of the parts offered here are not from official businesses or performance-part-manufacturers. How many people have you met who make what they consider "nice" things that you see as junk? Often times it can be a difference in perspective. And often times, parts get hyped up here so much that you think you're getting a piece of gold when it was only ever brass to begin with.

That said, I don't mind massaging something to fit once in a while, but if it says bolt-on, it had better be pretty close to bolt-on! As already said, if there's a problem with something, you're not doing anyone any good just making it work. Talk to the manufacturer and get it straightened out. Many would be glad to have a chance to make it right.

Honesty, communication, and inspection go a long way, but everyone's gonna miss something once in a while.

I wish #0 would expand his product line and service offerings. That dude's attention to detail and up front communication is 100X better than most companies out there that supposedly do this for a living.

Yea people sell 40 grand boats every week.

Mark44

what difference does it make at what frequency they receive an actual "SOLD" sign? the point is, that's what they're being offered to the public for, and there are a few that have actually purchased them. you wanna talk about the consumers setting the "standard" pricing for this stuff? there's a perfect example of it, well on it's way to "rediculous land".

So two of these 40k boats sold per year means there's money in this business?
Travis, if there were serious money, you'd see way more companies, more manufacturers, more customers, and more sponsorships. To say there's appreciable money in it is deluding yourself.
Yay, some russian oil tycoons and a few arabs buy expensive boats every now and then. Break out the champagne.

Like I said, what difference does it make how quickly they sell? The point is they SOLD...lol I'm sure the profit margins make up for all of the "dead" time in between, Matt. I mean, you sell two setups for a grand total of 80 g's, you can turn around build 4 or 5 of them with that kind of ching, and if it takes you two more years to sell those 4, wow, they sold and you just built ten more. Apparently, it happens.
And yeah, that's quite a bit of change floating around, regardless.

chippy chones.

The point is in the volume of sales. It's just not there. Low volume equals high prices.

Edit: low volume doesn't excuse poor quality, which was the point of the thread. Out.

you don't think the latter it the cause of the former?..lol

I'm sure if the prices were lower there would definitely be more volume in sales. My point is, there's nothing wrong with the quality of those particular setups or components, it's just that 40 g's for a turnkey setup is crazy, regardless. That's been one of the main issues with the "volume" of sales in this sport. Mudphish stated about 7 years ago that the prices for this stuff is "set" by people that are willing to pay that amount for them, not necessarily what he, or anyone in particular, thinks they're worth. Hence, one of the main reasons why the sport itself is so small. I think Darrin used the term "niche" to describe it, and as long as the market is handled that way, it will continue indefinitely to be a "niche".

No, I don't really think so. There aren't that many customers to begin with. That's where the low volume comes from. Standup jetskis started dying before spendy parts came in.
Besides, I know several builders, shop owners personally, including folks from Blowsion, Randy from Watcon, the guys from Jetworks, etc, and I can tell you that none of them live high on the hog, have fancy shops, yachts, or high dollar.vehicles.

Anyways, it's a separate issue.

yea dont beat a dead horse on a separate issue, how ever much $ is in it,do it right the first time and stand behind what you make without fail,is the point of the thread

Bottom line is when there is low volume at low profit margins there won't be very high quality. The personal watercraft group of guys think everything is overpriced. Just look at how we complain about the price of exhaust systems yet look how much they get for dirt bike pipes now, and they look easier to build and the manufacturing numbers are much higher. Quality of Factory pipes is high in my opinion. Skat trak makes a good product as well. The market is not big it just appears big when you read about people buying this stuff in the forums. Even when numbers are not that high there is still competition from products made in places like Thailand ect. One competition for new parts is all the parts being sold here and on e bay. I have seen many a 15 year old carburetors being sold for nearly if not for more than what they sold when they were new.

that's why there aren't "that many" customers. the entry cost of this sport is too far above "reasonable". And it's NOT a separate issue. it's all one and the same. The OP started this thread complaining about paying high prices to arrogant manufacturers for substandard parts. it's that same "arrogance" that prices this stuff.

The entry cost is not that bad it is the modifications cost that adds up. Once you start doing modifications to any thing it gets expensive. Even radio controlled cars and planes can get very expensive IF you want to be competitive. In the Harley market I don't see anywhere the complaining about the prices. I think it is the type of people the sport attracts. The average household income is very different between the two groups.
